(8) Real Gun looks like a horse that can make it to better grade than this. He did a fair bit of racing in his first prep, bolting in with a strong Caulfield maiden before running 2nd at $2.50 in a bm64 at The Valley, splitting Sham I Am and Sassayuri. Only had the one jumpout but he won it easily under no riding and Allen sticks. Ideally he slots in just off the speed.

(5) Beatrix’s form stands out from nearly a year ago, running very credibly in some 3yo filly’s races behind Bless Her, Chassis and Rich Hips. Draws very wide with Gaudray on so she’ll need a good ride but looks the main danger.

Surprised about the price of (14) Make Mine Hennessey who plummets in grade after taking on Snickerdoodledandy at Flemington last start, hardly disgraced 3.6L away in 5th. The start prior she was only 3.4L off Kurabui who is a very handy mare. I’d have loved for this to be 1600m but she gets in with just 56.5kg (up 2.5kg) despite dropping from a Saturday bm84 to a Thursday bm64. Only problem is she’s accepted on Saturday in the Leilani final, so they may chance their hand and scratch.

Trent Crebbin

Trent’s interest in the thoroughbred started out as a spark with Black Caviar, became a flame with Winx, and has now intensified into a burning obsession with Arcadia Queen. He started out throwing loose change on random trifectas at the pub, but it wasn’t long before he was watching replays and looking at sectionals, weights and markets. Trent specializes in Victorian racing and hopes his first winner as an owner is just around the corner.
