Billy Bestford highlights three best bets on today’s card, including a preview of the Scone Cup.

It’s a huge day at Scone in country NSW this Friday with the running of the Scone Cup headlining a cracking day of racing.

The track is rated a soft 5 at the moment but there is some rain forecast so keep an eye on any downgrades.

Billy Bestford has done the form and is keen to bet into three races throughout the card, including one in the Cup.

(13) Rock Chant has trialled up superbly for a return to the races today and expect she is in for a big prep this time around. Should be able to offset the wide draw by rolling forward and will give herself every chance from that position. Any rain is a positive.

(4) Pacheco has been gelded and has always shown a bit of ability. Think that might switch his mind on the job and is good enough.

(1) Hamaki is another who resumes since being gelded and a couple of recent trials looked good. He’s started well in the market in all races to date so have to respect.

Pretty keen (7) Camino Real can notch another win here and has come back in flying form. Let down from well back on a bog track last start to just miss a gun wet tracker. Up to 1300m looks ideal and the wide draw probably means she finds the best part of the track by this stage of the day.

(13) Schiller’s Mist looks the value and is a much better horse 2nd up. Back to 1300m looks more her go and maps for every favour. Handles wet.

Early money has been on for (1) Park Avenue and he was very good in QLD last start. Just missed a progressive horse there and this looks a touch easier. On the up.

(15) Mobstar lightly raced and is a winner first up.

Siding with (5) Dr Drill here in the cup who looks suited dropping well in grade and stepping up in trip 2nd up. Was only 3L off Ayrton fresh which is good enough for this. Expect Jmac to give him every chance and he’s a winner at only start this track/trip.

(1) Berdibek can improve sharply 2nd up and has a knack for popping up and winnning these sorts of country races. Had excuses there first up.

(10) Rustic Steel maps to be up on the pace from a nice draw and is flying. Proved himself at the mile last time out.

(13) Fender looks the big blowout chance and can throw him in the exotics.

(6) Art Cadeaux deserves another win and is hard fit 4th up. Loves the wet and any rain helps his chances massively.

Billy Bestford

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
