Bendigo Racing Tips: Wednesday, November 11th

Victorian metro racing heads to Bendigo today as we wind down the carnival and Trent Crebbin suggests there’s a few standout bets on the eight-race card.

bendigo racing tips

Victorian metro racing heads to Bendigo today as the Spring carnival starts to wind down. The track is rated a Good 4 and the rail is out 3m for the eight-race card.

It’s a tricky card overall but there does look to be a few standout bets on the program. One of those is the best bet of the day, which comes up in Race 8, while a runner in Race 5 appeals as the value.

Analysis of every race can be found below!

Best Bet: Race 8 – (10) Fundraiser

Best Value: Race 5 – (6) Ourconi

The favourite (5) Nantucket does look very hard to beat here. He finished 2nd at all three career starts in the Autumn, but was beaten 0.2L, 0.2L and 0.1L in much stronger company. Jamie Kah takes the ride from regular stable rider Joe Bowditch, and even from an outside barrier he really should be too strong.

(4) Real Gun was good on debut in a handy race, as was (2) Flying Finch on the synthetic, but if Nantucket is ready to go here, which I think he will be to get the maiden out the way, he’ll be winning.

Top Pick: (5) Nantucket $2.2 Bet365

Another that looks hard to beat early doors is (7) Manaajim for the Lindsay Park stable. Like Nantucket in the first, this horse has finished 2nd at all three career starts, but a win does look very close. She started $3.60 last start in a good maiden, and just missed all the way winner Violinist, who had run 2nd in the group 3 SA Sires Produce last prep and subsequently ran a very unlucky 8th at Flemington on Cup Day. Manaajim draws barrier one here, and with the long Bendigo straight, Nolen should only need even luck to be winning this.

(3) Foxy Frida was good on debut at Swan Hill but would need to improve a fair bit.

Top Pick: (7) Manaajim $2.40 Sportsbetting

Betting Strategy: 3 units WIN Manaajim

Very tough maiden. The favourite is (8) Nowitzki who has had one career start in Sydney when hard in the market and finishing last. He’s shown plenty of talent and has the best trainer jockey combo in the race.

(10) Ahika looks the likely winner if Nowitzki doesn’t show up. Her first up run at Echuca was good and with a bit of luck from barrier 8 she can threaten. Pretty happy to shoulder arms from a betting perspective here, but I do have Ahika on top.

Top Pick: (10) Ahika $4.05 Sportsbetting

Another impossible maiden. I thought (6) Singleton Park could improve sharply. He was sound on debut over 1200m before starting $12 at Sale on a very heavy track where he clearly didn’t handle the ground behind Shelby Cobra. Up to 1600m looks to suit and a return to a good track will be greatly beneficial.

(7) Who’s Your Papy ran on strongly from the rear last start and draws much better here in 5. His debut run behind Jaffastock and Captain Canuck is solid form for a race like this.

(4) Orrong Road ties in nicely there after finishing last behind Captain Canuck at The Valley when getting back. Something small on Singleton Park but not getting carried away.

Top Pick: (6) Singleton Park $5.50 Bet365

Betting Strategy: 0.5 units WIN Singleton Park

Gee the favourite (9) Kuna Magic looks short here. She comes here first up for the Ellerton/Zahra camp after impressively winning a Sapphire Coast maiden on debut. She’s jumped out well, but this is much tougher, and I’d have thought she goes back from a wide barrier, despite leading a recent jumpout.

(6) Ourconi looks overs 2nd up. He started $3.60 first up and raced very keenly outside the leader. He’s only had three starts, the first being in a strong maiden behind Immortal Love where he started $4.80, and the second being a 4.25L victory on the synthetic. 2nd up here on a good track, drawn perfectly in 5, he can run better than his double figure quote suggests.

(7) Zimowy can also run a big race 2nd up. She was very strong late first up over 1000m, and her 2nd up record is good. She was beaten a head in a strong bm64 behind Rapidora 2nd up last prep, and a repeat of that performance would go close here. She also goes Emily Brown to Michael Rodd, and barrier 9 to barrier 2. Happy to back Ourconi and Zimowy at equal staking here, making Ourconi the better result at the odds.

Top Pick: (6) Ourconi $10 TAB

Danger: (7) Zimowy $6.60 Sportsbetting

He has to carry top weight, but (1) Perfect Illusion does look deserving of favouritism here at $5.50. He’s been building towards a win and ran well for 2nd as a $2.60 chance last start over 2046m. He finally gets out to 2400m where all 3 career wins have come overseas, and this is an easier race.

(2) Pissaro was sound in a decent 2500m Moonee Valley race last start, beating home (11) Miss Five Hundred.

That race was won by (6) Eaton who led all the way. He jumps up 4.5kg in weight and did start $41 there, getting every favour, which puts some doubt in my mind as to the strength of that race. Happy to side with Perfect Illusion to record his first Australian win for Mitchell Beer.

If (7) Night Passage is ready to go, she’ll be very hard to beat here. Her last two starts before a spell were in much harder company behind Affair To Remember and Game Keeper, neither of which she was disgraced behind. Luke Currie only has 2 rides for the day, and this is the McEvoy stable’s only runner for the day. She’s coming off a dominant Gawler trial win, draws beautifully in barrier 5, and looks a great bet at $5.50.

(3) Hillcrest Moses bolted in a Benalla maiden last start and can measure up, as can (6) Murganella first up, but realistically if Night Passage is fit, she should be a clear favourite and hard to beat.

Think there’s a great bet in the form of (10) Fundraiser, who comes here 2nd up. He started favourite in a strong bm64 at Geelong first up and wasn’t given much hope, racing wide without cover midfield when running 3rd to The Astrologist. That is very good form, with that horse coming out and running a narrow 2nd to Exhilarates in a listed race on Melbourne Cup day. The 5th horse at Geelong, Triton Rising, also came out and won his next start impressively in bm70 grade. Fundraiser should get a much more economical run from barrier 3 and looks a great bet at $3.50.

(13) Part Time Lover can improve but draws wide again, and (3) Boom Boom Becker is in good form.

Top Pick: (10) Fundraiser $3.50 Palmerbet

Betting Strategy: 3 units WIN Fundraiser

Trent’s interest in the thoroughbred started out as a spark with Black Caviar, became a flame with Winx, and has now intensified into a burning obsession with Arcadia Queen. He started out throwing loose change on random trifectas at the pub, but it wasn’t long before he was watching replays and looking at sectionals, weights and markets. Trent specializes in Victorian racing and hopes his first winner as an owner is just around the corner.
