After another bumper Saturday of races we look towards Sunday racing which takes place in Canberra for a good eight race card.

The sun is finally shining and we are currently on a soft 7 track. The rail is out 8 metres the entire circuit.

(6) Diamond Class looks a good way to start our Sunday off and is in good form. Back to back 2nds to start this prep over shorter trips and now to 1400m 3rd up he is ready to show something. Gets in nice and light and this is easier than last start.

(4) Sally Pops gets well back in grade today following a fair run in midweek bm64 at Warwick Farm. Was clearly out of her grade there but much more suited here and rising to 1400m is where she does her best work.

I’ve had (3) Just Business in my blackbook since the beginning of last prep and he’s been a horse who can really mix his form. In saying that, when he shows his best he’s much better than this sort of grade and I think he looks a good winning chance fresh. Handles all conditions and if the gaps come for him, he’ll be in the finish.

(1) Starliv in good form and will carry same weight as last start following the apprentice claim. Will be up on speed and should see the gun run from barrier 1.

(6) Denim Street next best.

(3) King Gutho draws wide but he hasn’t had much luck this prep and continues to run well. Penza sticks for the ride today and the horse should be hard fit 3rd up. Started favourite in this sort of grade last start and was trapped wide. If you can forgive that we’re getting $11+ about him today.

(6) Extravagant Lad is the other horse I’ll be having something on. He was hammered in betting when taking on a Highway at Rosehill but just didn’t come on. Maybe a bit of 2nd up syndrome? Happy to stick with him back in this grade as fresh run was very good.

Billy Bestford

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
