Siding with (12) Latin Lyric here on the back of a solid return first-up. In that run at Canterbury, she was forced to drop back as she was bumped heavily on jumping and from the poor draw, she shifted in behind runners. Jean Van Overmiere then came wide with a nice turn of speed before she rallied up next to the short priced favourite and eventual winner Barossa Rosa, but just couldn’t pass it. She ended up beating the rest of the field by a nice margin and she will come on nicely from that run. She is nice each-way odds for the opener.
(1) Good Omens was very good on debut behind Flexible and is a deserved favourite here. She led for a fair while before Flexible took over and streaked away, but our girl kept fighting hard and beat the rest of the field by 3 lengths. She will come on nicely from the run and should be thereabouts again.
(13) Tight Ropes hasn’t done a lot so far this preparation and will get James McDonald on for the first time in eight starts. There looks little speed, and she has the fitness advantage over her stablemate (1) Good Omens who looks the other horse to head forward. She will no doubt run boldly here.

I think they have been waiting for the stars to align with (2) Mount Fuji after having his first-up run over a month ago. He ran well in that race behind Dance, but poor draws and wet tracks have plagued his return for a second-up run. He has since trialled nicely just to keep him ticking over and hopefully today they will run him on a good surface. James McDonald will take the ride and the draw looks workable. He definitely has the talent and given even luck; he should be winning here.
(1) Go Gazza came to Canterbury last start and really made a go of it, going down 0.1 length off Velorum. Before that he was no match for the Kim Waugh trained French Bonnet at Newcastle. He comes into this contest third-up and Sam Clipperton will remain aboard after last start. He is drawn ideally to obtain a spot they want and won’t be going around with some of my money at the each-way odds.
(3) Ice Cubed has trialled up well and is probably the best of the rest with the ideal draw.

Not much depth to this race and with now only seven runners, it looks pretty clear cut. (3) April Rain was very impressive on resumption, saluting at this track and distance in dominant fashion, winning by 3.8 lengths on the soft 6 going. Being back on top of the ground won’t hurt and from the wide barrier, she will likely settle at the rear off the fence, just to avoid being held wide. Either way, I think she will be in prime position rounding the turn and be the one to beat.
(5) Virgo proved me wrong last start by sitting on pace and proving that she can push out a win from a favourable position. She is drawn well here, and Kathy O’Hara sticks which will suit her. If she gets a similar set-up to last start and is able to skip clear on the bend, she will give the favourite plenty to do in the straight.
(7) Irish Angel is the best of the rest, but I don’t have it in a winning position here.

A few of these horses have faced each other in recent weeks at Canterbury but the top two I have picked are yet to clash. (8) McGeehan performed well two starts back at Warwick Farm over the mile, missing out late against Foxborough before breaking through with a good run at Canterbury last start over the 1900m. He does go up 2.5kg off that win whilst tackling the same distance/track as last start. I think his weight could have been higher had he not got held up rounding the straight and in the early part of the straight. He is a good each-way price for those that want to stick with him.
(4) Amoretti is going for three in a row and is coming off a nice win at this track and distance last start. His time was slightly quicker than (8) McGeehan’s time a week later but he didn’t have the obstacles that he had to contend with. He is drawn well and will sit forward, so expect him to look the winner at some point of the straight.
(6) Jungle Book will be flying late but I think he would prefer a bigger track.

I think (3) Knowitall Jack is overs for this race, which is a wide-open affair. He began awkwardly last start and had to settle in the middle of the pack and was chasing a pretty decent speed, which is something that he usually sets, not chases. Tom Sherry has to stop riding around the 250m mark as the leader came back to the field quite fast and hindered the running of our bloke before getting on his bike again to finish off the race well enough. He will come on nicely from that run and he doesn’t mind this track and distance whilst being back on top of the ground. If Jean Van Overmiere can get him to start well, he should be able to take control of the race before giving his all in the straight.
(5) Pitchfork is looking to improve fourth-up whilst coming back from Saturday grade which should give him a top hope. The winkers have been removed and I expect him to sit right behind (3) Knowitall Jack before trying to make his move on the bend.
(7) Joliette will appreciate being on top of the ground and is super fit. With James McDonald on and a draw that will ensure she can follow the leaders into the race, she will be right there in the finish.

(6) Dance will be a factor back on top of the ground and should be able to sit more forward than last start from the draw. He gets Tim Clark back aboard which is a massive plus and being third-up, he will be nearing his peak fitness. With a bunch of scratchings there doesn’t look to be any speed so our bloke should be able to stalk the speed before taking over in the straight.
(7) Dawn Too Good is the other on-pace runner who can be a pest if he gets control of the race. He is coming back from Saturday grade where he ran a solid 2.4 length fourth against some good horses. He is drawn out here so expect them to head forward and try to pinch some cheap sectionals.
(3) Sedition flew home last start at Canterbury and will look to make it back to back wins. Nash Rawiller on will boost the connections confidence and should be in the finish once again.

I think (2) General Soho is a nice way for us to end the night. You can put a line through both his last two starts despite running second in both. Two back he was wide throughout when 1.3 lengths back in second to Tepario and then was caught wide again last start when finishing 0.3 length behind Sedition. He drops back 100m, keeps Ford aboard and is drawn to get some nice cover. Brilliant each-way bet to end the night.
(5) Nosey is coming off a nice 0.8 length win at Gosford. He has been freshened up and this is a new task for him as it has been a while he has competed in this grade. He gets James McDonald on again and is drawn to get a midfield run. Will he be up to this race though?
(1) Perigord has to be respected and will look to improve on his previous starts.
