Canterbury Racing Tips: Friday, November 27th

I want to play two horses in the open, both race on the same day and caught my eye at Wyong. The first horse is (6) Segal who does look value at the current price. He has only had one run the Sydney way of going and despite missing the start, looked to accelerate nicely when given the chance in the small straight before being tightened for room. If he begins with the field from barrier three, he is a chance to run a lot better than his previous start.

(9) Moremi is the other I want to play who come home nicely that day in another race and similarly accelerated nicely in the straight. The horse she chased home won at Wyong yesterday, so the form stands up nicely. She drops 3kg from the previous run which will put her in with a top chance from a nice barrier.

(7) So United will be in this race a long way being the likely leader.

(8) Kouklara next best.

I am expecting something special from this girl first-up. (6) La Foret has been trialing up a storm in the lead-up to this and her form last preparation makes her clearly the one to beat. She went down to Bravado in her first career start before running second at this track and distance behind the promising Redoute’s Image. She beat home three horses who have since won races in Joviality (who has won 3 in a row, fifth in a Group 1 and should have won a stakes race last start), Tiny, Waafiya and Embeller. She will relish being on top of the ground here and with the blinkers coming off her, I am expecting her to run them into the ground.

(5) Supremo is the one I am worried about if there are any chinks in our girl’s armor. He did too much work last start which was his undoing late in the piece. Blinkers on and he is a chance.

(8) Virgo has some nice form from last start.

(7) Wild Wind next best.

I think this race sets up nicely for (1) Jesse James. He flew home nicely last start at Gosford and showed a nice set of heels on top of the ground. Tommy Berry will ride and he has ridden the top 3 in the market last start and is committed to this ride which I believe is a nice little pointer. He is drawn much better here, so expect him to sit closer in the run before showing some nice acceleration up the straight.

(10) Ayemgee also flew home on the same day but didn’t show the same dash as her rival. Still think she will run a good race though.

(7) Tycoonist returns a gelding and is drawn favourably to be in with a chance.

(11) Geist next best.

Settling with (1) Bobby Dee here who ran some okay figures in a Saturday form race and drops back from that benchmark 88 to a benchmark 72. Tom Sherry will get a 2kg claim which brings him down to 60.5kg, which is what he almost carried to victory at this track three starts ago over a shorter distance. He is drawn ideally and does look to get an easy time in front, and he does possess a nice kick entering the straight before maintaining his pace until the finish line. He will give us a nice sight for our money.

(6) Kutayha is the worry here. Has missed at two attempts in this grade around this distance though he will fun better on this dry ground.

(4) Glamour Fox looks a chance with a small field from a poor draw.

(2) Time Raid is next best.

This is a very thin race and have settled with (8) Selburose once again. She fought hard to win on the line last start at this track over the 1200m and will have to fight hard again to get past her rival and second favourite (1) Let It Pour. She is drawn well to sit predominantly and with Nash retaining the ride, you know she will be throwing everything at the line. She has performed well at benchmark 68 level before she won her maiden and I expect her to be competitive here. This is a top chance for her to notch another win.

(1) Let It Pour is drawn nicely and can stroll forward should they choose to do so. Weight worries me a touch.

(4) Maggie Miss will go forward and could be hard to run down with cheap sectionals.

(5) Miss Twilight is the next best.

(3) Super Contender is the best horse in this race, and I hope they ride him like it. After spending his first preparation in Queensland, the Kodiac gelding looks to resume in Sydney on the right foot here over the 1200m. He comes in nicely after the scratchings come out and maps to sit just off the lead or lead themselves if they choose to do so. Hopefully they lead and show them how good he really is.

(9) Ranges looks value stepping back to the 1200m. Will get a nice sit just off the leaders and will be there to pounce if they overdo it.

(1) Lancaster Bomber has a big weight and will go back but will get the last shot at them.

(5) Ambleve next best.

I am willing to give (4) Zouologist one last chance here after the last two rides were ill-judged and he ended up being caught wide on both occasions. Despite the rides, he has been able to finish second on both occasions. Mikayla Weir retains the ride and will get 3kg knocked off his back, he is back on top of the ground and has drawn a gate where she won’t be able to be caught wide throughout. Definitely worth an each-way play.

(5) He’s A Hotshot was in the thick of it last start and should be there again despite the draw.

(10) Phoenix Global was poor last start and has no weight here so you would expect them to be positive again and a place chance.  

(1) Americana Magic next for the exotics

(2) Criminal Code finished off just as well as the winner last start here at this track and distance, despite having to carry 2.5kg more than him. He will get a nice cart into the race from barrier 5 and there will be plenty of speed in this one for him to use. The in-form Tommy Berry retains the ride and will have learnt a lot from that first ride and this bloke will appreciate the firmer surface. I think he is a top chance for us to walk away happy in the last.

(14) Sea Echo will camp just off the leaders and the form from his run two back is still standing up nicely. Nice little chance to boost exotics and to put in the quaddie.

(11) Private Cheetah is one I have plenty of time for. Will be leading the majority of the way and if he gets some cheap sectionals, it could be the whole way.

(3) Miss Einstein next best.
