(3) Standing Order ran well on debut behind Williamsburg and then didn’t get a great deal of luck in the Black Opal at Canberra behind Queen Of The Ball. Should roll forward and be hard to beat.

(1) Cadetship won his first trial on the Polytrack at Warwick Farm and then was given a quiet trial coming from last on the heavy ground at Rosehill. Goes back from the gate but looks a live hope on debut.

(7) Ferrari Man is the likely leader which is half the battle at Canterbury.

Only interested in two runners here.

(6) The Art Of Flying is due, surely. He’s placed in three of his four career starts and comes to a maiden after running 3rd in the Inglis Sprint at Flemington. Handles wet ground, JMac on, finds a good race.

(2) Brechen draws barrier 1 for Bowman and Waller and has trialled up well ahead of his debut today. Barrier 1 is normally a gift at Canterbury but with the track rated a Heavy 10 it remains to be seen where the best ground is.

Tip: (6) The Art Of Flying $1.95 TAB

Only a small field but a couple that could fight for the lead here.

(1) Reggiewood ran a great race for 3rd first up at Warwick Farm and then backed that up with a solid win over 1800m last start on the Kensington track. Up to 1900m now, the blinkers go back on third up and he should be very hard to beat.

(5) Main Stage probably leads with Clark aboard. Bolted in over 1800m on the Kensington track two starts ago before bumping into smart import Diamil last week. Back up in trip today on the one week back up and should take catching.

(3) Military Mission was sound first up.

Just about anything could win this.

(1) Switched has placed in 10 of 11 starts on heavy ground and was brave after sitting wide throughout last start. Drawn wide, goes forward with Nash sticking and will be thereabouts again.

(7) Impulse Control has had five starts this prep for two wins and three placings. She’s also had five starts on heavy ground for two wins and two placings. Gets in with 54kg after the claim and the stable are going well.

(8) Parachuter comes here first up and has trialled well. Was competitive in races like this at the back end of last prep. Hasn’t been great in her past couple of first up runs though.

(10) Devil’s Triangle ran 2nd to Shelby Sixtysix in a Highway two starts ago but was then beate at $1.80 at Canberra last start. 51kg on her back makes her hard to catch though.

(3) Cross The Rubicon hasn’t done much wrong this prep, going through her grades nicely. She’s won three on the bounce now and has been fairly dominant in all of them. Heavy track and wide draw the main queries but hard to knock the way she’s going.

(7) Girls Are Ready is a fascinating runner for Joe Cleary from Queanbeyan, with James McDonald booked to ride. Is an out-and-out heavy tracker so gets ideal conditions today.

(8) Kouklara is always thereabouts but struggles to win.

(5) Vittoriosa can improve second up.

(1) Fantastic Baby was good first up in a Midway BM72 at Rosehill and he’s got a good second up record, as well as a good record on rain-affected ground. Wide draw but looks a chance at each way odds.

(7) Onemore Sapphire should improve here second up. He’s only placed once from six starts when first up but he’s won twice from five starts when second up and Bowman is a notable booking.

(9) Field Legend and (11) Aton Of Delight are both Waller horses to be included.

(10) Gracilistyla won well on the heavy track here at Canterbury last start and the horse he beat was Diamil, who has since come out and won his next start easily. That looks a good form reference and makes him the horse to beat here.

(4) Uncalled Edit makes its Australian debut and returns as a gelding. Potentially in need of the run here over the sprint trip but is one to watch.

(7) Stolen Jade relished conditions when winning here last start.

(3) Nikau Spur next best.

(8) Calgary Queen comes off a 5th placing in the Provincial-Midway Championships at Gosford and probably finds this a touch easier. JMac booked, has won two from three on heavy ground and should go close.

(13) I Am Brazen broke the maiden first up and then destroyed her rivals second up at Goulburn on a heavy track. Not sure that form warrants starting $4 in town but obviously loves the ground.

(4) Too Much Caviar returns with three trials under the belt, winning the last two. No exposure to a heavy track before so hard to know how he will go.

Tip: (8) Calgary Queen $3.50 Neds

A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne. He’s a fan of dry tracks, Zac Purton and takes particular interest in identifying patterns in the form. Tim wears many hats, juggling the roles of form analyst, jockey manager and racehorse owner.
