Cranbourne Racing Tips: Friday, October 29th

Billy Bestford previews every race at Cranbourne and has found a few he is keen on throughout the night.

Cranbourne

We’ve got a good quality eight race card to get stuck into tonight at Cranbourne

The track is currently rated a soft 7 with the rail out 9 metres. There has been a bit of rain around so I’m not sure we will see a downgrade throughout the evening.

Billy Bestford previews every race on the card tonight as we look to fill our pockets leading into the biggest week on the racing calendar!

Best Bet: Race 5 – (9) Pacific Ruby

With (12) Wind Dreamer here in the first who was impressive on debut earlier in the year. Was put away quickly by the stable and has been wound up with a nice recent trial. Barrier 1 should suit.

(14) Skipping Girl has also had just the one career start but she was very good. Arguably goes very close to winning with any luck there and will take a heap of improvement from that run.

(7) Antipodes is another who hasn’t had much luck recently. Caught wide last couple but still kept finding to the line. This looks her easiest task to date.

(7) Astroflight showed ability in first prep, running well in a decent race at Swan Hill before going for a spell. His lead on trial was good enough to think he can break through tonight.

(2) Our Tigersun was good in first run for new stable last start on a heavy track. Change of scenery might’ve been what he’s looking for and I expect him to run on well tonight.

(9) Summerhill goes on top here. This is a weak maiden with a whole heap of non winners so I’m happy to have something on him who looks to have some upside still. Has improved with both career runs and I think he will be even better suited riding to the mile now.

(10) My Brilliant Choix will be sure to have fans once again but he just manages to find one or two better each start. Hes probably the hardest to beat but for a horse of his profile the price looks short enough.

(3) Cogent can definitely win. Ran very well first up off a 6 month break so has a stack of improvement to come you’d think. Rises from 1300 to the mile now and this is much more his kind of trip.

I’d say this isnt a race they’ll be jumping out of trees to have a bet in.

She’s very short but  (2) Rutherford will be pretty hard to beat here. Both runs since coming to Aus have been very good and she won with a bit in hand last start. Up to 1600m now 3rd up from a perfect draw.

(4) Royelle gets the blinkers first time tonight and she was a good winner two back. Pulled up with post race issues last start so best to be forgiving on that and can bounce back.

Just at the difference in price I’m happy to have something small on Royelle.

(9) Pacific Ruby comes out of a hot Saturday race at Caulfield last start where she was far from disgraced. Held her own there to finish 3L off Vianello. Looks much more suited back to maiden grade and she should be able to lead this field up and take some catching.

(2) Improvident bumped into a smart one on debut but he showed plenty of ability himself. That was over 1500m so you’d expect he just gets better over further.

(3) Invincible Crown was probably a certainty beat 2nd up and you’d think a win isn’t far away.

(4) Gravitelle drops in grade here after a good run in the Pinker Pinker behind Mahashakti. She ran on well considering those on the speed were favoured while that was her first start in almost a year. She’ll be a much improved horse 2nd up and can win.

Cant knock the form of (8) Peace Process who doesn’t know how to run a bad race. She’s got a heap of upside about her and should right in the finish once again.

(3) War Critic drops in grade and looks better suited here tonight from a nice draw.

(9) Outlook is an interesting runner who comes up from NSW in good form. She put the writing on the wall two back before winning easily last start over 2300m. She takes on a field of horses here who have plenty of experience but this is probably their ceiling whereas I think she can progress. She’ll be forward in the run and could just have more upside than these.

(7) Brilliant Venture broke through for a well deserved win last start following a stack of placings. He absolutely bolted in by 4L in a bm64 so he should be well placed rising to this grade now. That was a confidence booster for him and he may just be able to go on with it now. The rise to 2600m looks ideal.

If you can forgive (2) Heir To The Throne last start then his form before that was very good for a race like this. Finished half a length off Tooradin three starts back in a hot Saturday race and he loves racing here at Cranbourne.

This looks a pretty hot Bm70 to round out the card.

I’m with the resuming  (7) Estoril Park who has some elite form around her last prep. Finish behind the likes of I’m Thunderstruck and All Of Brighton. She started $6 that day against Thunderstruck which tells you enough about her talent. She looks a good winning chance especially with some rain around.

(4) Real Feeling has flashed ability in her short career. She looked very good at a recent jumpout and to my eye I think she may come back a much better horse this prep. From the low draw she can lead or sit just off the speed and I’m hoping she can go on with it now.

(2) Fast And Deep rarely runs a poor race and loves this track/trip. Will be up on speed and could get away with this if she has it all her own way.

(8) The Sisters will be the one smoking the pipe out the back and laucnhing late. There looks to be plenty of speed on and she could finish over the top if they go hard up front.

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
