Racing at Geelong on Wednesday and Trent Crebbin’s best bet comes up in Race 7.

Racing heads to Geelong on Wednesday for a competitive midweek meeting in Victoria.

Trent Crebbin has done the form for all eight races on the card, with his best bet coming up in Race 7.

The track is rated a good 3 but there is rain predicted before the meeting and could end up on the wetter side of soft.

At his best, (1) Chart Buster would be hard to beat in this. He was first up off a long break and sat 3 wide no cover at Cranbourne His only 2nd up run he ran a narrow 2nd to Crown Mint, beating home Itzhot and Ain’tnodeeldun. Has to concede them weight but maps well.

(4) La Zuuca ran over the same T/D on the same day and the times were basically identical, coming home a bit faster. She has to be a chance.

(6) Runaway River next best.

(1) Anthemic ran well in the La Zuuca race first up. He’s suited up in trip and does have a $3.70 SP against Eagles Crag.

(1) Alontro drifted heavily last start at Ballarat and held down 2nd comfortably with gaps through the field. He gets a lovely map over a few of these but might not be quite as talented as a couple of debutants.

(2) Diamond Back is a Frankel colt for Lane/Waller and has to be respected. 1400m is a good starting point. He’s trialled very well, it’s just where he gets to on the map.

(4) Mahrez has trialled well for his debut. Not sure about the draw.

2460m maiden. (1) Bow Thruster has been good his last two and gets a soft run.

(11) Slickback Teddy ran on well first up but was disappointing in the Bow Thruster race last start. The jockey suggested he needs a quieter ride, and from barrier 12 he gets back.

(3) El Campeon was good in the same race and should feature again.

Another 2460m this time for slightly faster horses. (5) Bazini has the most upside having only had two starts, the latest in a Donald maiden where I thought he did a good job coming from off speed. He gets a nice map from barrier 4 and looks suited further up in trip.

(8) Goodiwindi was awful as favourite last start and can improve, but would need to.

(7) Redsong is a grinding stayer that broke through for a deserved win over 2200m on the synthetic last start. Up in trip again suits.

Very tough. (3) Indictment got a long way back first up at Cranbourne but hit the line hard to break his maiden. He showed plenty of tactical speed in his early days but draws wide again here so tactics will be interesting.

(1) Blushing Tycoon was awful in a much stronger race, dropping out to finish last. His best is good enough to win this- the win over Linas Legend before a break is easily good enough form and he maps to lead again.

(4) Vitruvius won nicely first up last prep in a fairly handy race and can win.

(3) Narvaez looks hard to beat. He was outsprinted in a stronger race over 1200m first up and looks suited getting to 1400m in a weaker race. His best form is much better than bm64 level, and provided the track isn’t into the heavy range, he should roll forward and be hard to run down.

(10) Dothraki is the danger having his first run in Australia. He’s jumped out well and can threaten from the inside.

Keeping it simple- Narvaez has the best exposed form and should be going very close, Dothraki is the saver.

(9) Pankhurst won dominantly on debut at Casterton, running some fairly strong late sectionals from on speed. His last 200m was the 3rd fastest of the race behind Timson who was backed off the map in the Guineas Prelude. Can’t imagine 1755m being anything but a positive and he’s got plenty of upside.

(7) Stelvio is consistent and perhaps a step up in trip will help, getting a lovely run with Lane from barrier 4.

(1) Mystery Island might want further but made a lot of progress and ended last prep with a demolition job over 2700m at Stawell.

Trent Crebbin

Trent’s interest in the thoroughbred started out as a spark with Black Caviar, became a flame with Winx, and has now intensified into a burning obsession with Arcadia Queen. He started out throwing loose change on random trifectas at the pub, but it wasn’t long before he was watching replays and looking at sectionals, weights and markets. Trent specializes in Victorian racing and hopes his first winner as an owner is just around the corner.
