Goulburn hosts the 10-race Kembla Grange Classic card on Friday afternoon, which ahs been transferred due to the wet weather in New South Wales.

The Group 3 feature for the three-year-old fillies comes up as Race 8 on the card.

Really don’t think there’s a great deal of depth to this year’s G3 Kembla Grange Classic, but the Heavy 9 track does throw a spanner in the works somewhat.

(6) Pretty Amazing is quite clearly the horse to beat, in my mind. She comes into this off successive wins at Newcastle and Canterbury. They’ve only been small fields but her last win in particular showed she has some class. The big query is the wet track given all three starts have been on good ground, but if she gets through it I think she’ll win.

(3) Hope In Your Heart drops out of the Group 1 Surround Stakes, where she ran 6th behind Hinged. Miravalle and Pohutukawa are two winners of this race in the past five years that have done the same and Hope In Your Heart is the only runner in this field that comes out of the Surround.

I think the clear value in the race is one of the stablemates to pretty Amazing in (9) Empress El, who ran 3rd to Pretty Amazing last start. That was her first run in Australia after winning her maiden on heavy ground in New Zealand. I think she can be the big improver.

Tim Geers

A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne. He’s a fan of dry tracks, Zac Purton and takes particular interest in identifying patterns in the form. Tim wears many hats, juggling the roles of form analyst, jockey manager and racehorse owner.
