Sydney racing heads to Hawkesbury on Thursday for an eight race card.

The track is currently rated a soft 6 but there is significant rain forecast meaning we will no doubt see a downgrade or two throughout the day.

Billy Bestford has cast his eye across the meeting and found a couple of bets he’s keen on.

Think (3) Chappelli is a chance to knock off the shortie here and from a price perspective I’m happy to have something on him. He clearly relishes the wet conditions, with a 2nd and a good win on heavy going in his debut prep. He will go forward and can get the sit off the favourite.

No doubt (4) Gulf Of Saros will be hard to beat but at $1.60 on a wet Thursday at Hawkesbury I’m happy to play around him.

Can have something on (8) Prophets Pride who’s more suited back in this sort of grade and gets favoured conditions here. Was a dominant winner on the heavy two back before tackling the Canberra Guineas. She’s lightly raced and is still on the up.

(3) Steplee has been good this prep without winning and is proven in the conditions. Will get back but should be running on strongly off a genuine tempo.

(7) Bella Violet is ultra consistent and was a forgive run last start when caught wide throughout. Form previously was good enough for this.

Billy Bestford

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
