We head to Kilmore for today’s horse racing meeting in Victoria, where there is an eight-race card on a track that is currently rated a Heavy 8.

Happy to have something on the resuming (4) Rigel Star in an open race to start the day. Was okay on debut in a race which has turned out a few winners since. In fact, three horses from the 12 in that maiden race have come out and won races since so the exposed form looks good. Trust the stable to have him ready to fire first up here.

(7) Writtle has jumped out well in readiness of his debut today and looks to have some ability. Wide barrier is the concern but think you can have something on at the $7.50 as a small saver.

Another open race but thinking that (13) La Spezia is bursting to break through here today. Was last seen narrowly going down over 1400m and the step up to the mile now looks a huge positive. The low draw is the query and may need a little luck in running but think she is clearly the one to beat today. Looks to have plenty of upside in a race which is lacking any superstars.

(5) Sacred Goddess might be the one at odds who can run well. Obviously the concern is the 15 starts without a win but she has 9 placings to her name so she isn’t hopeless. Can enjoy a run up on speed and even lead from the inside barrier and is proven to get through the wet ground. Might be the one they struggle to get past in these conditions.

Fairly decent bm64 for a Thursday and I think (4) O’mahlo looks a huge winning chance. Was outclassed last start in the Yarra Valley Cup but drops back in grade to a much more suitable race today and steps up to 2000m third up. Looks a good recipe for success and is one of the few in the field who enjoy the sting out of the ground. Should get the gun run from the barrier and will be hard to hold out.

(2) Slipintothis has been running well this prep since breaking his maiden a few starts back. Has been performing solidly in similar races he faces today and looks ready to peak getting out to the 2000m. Billy Egan rides for Patty Payne so you’ve always got to be wary.
