Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Friday, March 25th

Very keen to start the night with (2) Zarastro who was a forgive run last start up the Flemington straight. Got a bit lost there and pulled up lame but had trialled up really strongly in the lead up to that. Started $2.40 there in what was a stronger race than this. Can hit back now!

I’ve never really been one to jump on the hype around (3) Able Willie and he’s been a tad disappointing this prep. Have to respect the SP profile and he is now 4th up and hard fit. Maps for a good run with Kah taking over.

(1) He’s Exceptional brings some strong form lines and will enjoy getting back to The Valley where his record is good.

(7) Nanagui is unlucky not to have won at least one of her two starts this prep. She’s clearly talented and 3rd up now with race fitness on side she is ready to win. She ran good late sectionals last start over this trip and there looks speed a planty again here so she should be suited and just needs the gaps at the right time.

(3) Psychiatrist is going to be much better suited back on top of the ground and this is easier than the Todman which he comes out of. Was dominant from the front fresh over this trip and I’d expect similar tactics tonight on a track which is usually advantageous to be on speed.

(1) Bello Beau is interesting coming up from Tasmania with an undefeated record. Usually goes forward and has run good time in those recent wins.

(4) Crosswinds is on the up following a dominant debut win when well supported.

The feature race of the night sees a good mix of sprinters go head to head with the exciting Marabi the one who everyone will be watching.

(9) Marabi is now unbeaten through seven career starts and absolutely loves racing here at The Valley. She ticked off the G1 box last start, leading throughout for a reasonably comfortable win in the Oakleigh Plate. Her last three wins here at this track have been by a combined 12L! Will go to the lead and she is nearly impossible to get past with such a high cruising speed and ability to rail around this tight track. Think she makes it 8/8.

(8) September Run is a tough horse to assess because we haven’t seen her at her best for a while. The first up run in the Newmarket was good and I get the sense we could see her return to form here. Will get back from the wide gate and sure to be charging late.

(5) The Astrologist ran 2nd in that Newmarket and usually gives himself every chance up near the speed. No doubt he’ll be trying to keep Marabi in his sights and I just think he’s super genuine.

(12) Generation has bene very well backed and is another very honest horse. Hasn’t missed the trifecta in all seven career runs and loves The Valley. 3rd up now he’s ready to peak.

(2) Jonker is worth forgiving out of the Oakleigh Plate when pulling up with post race issues. Won the Manikato here last prep.

I do think Marabi is extremely hard to beat but probably want $2 for her. With that in mind I’m happy to have something on September run each way.

(8) So You See looks a great way to close out the night off the back of an unlucky 4th in the Kewney Stakes. That was just her 2nd career start and clearly she is very good. Debut win was huge and from a good barrier today I think she can win again.

(10) Always On My Mind is flying and I wish she’d drawn a wider gate here because she can let rip from the back of the pack. If she can get lucky from the law draw then I think she’s in with a huge chance.

If (3) Ancient Girl is here then she’s a big winning hope. Dominant in the Morphetville Guineas last start and split Barb Raider and Cardigan Queen two back. Goes forward and could be suited by the way this track can play.

(2) Daises was hard to miss flashing home for 4th on return. Gets a little drop in the weights for this and she’s one of the class horses in this field.
