Kicking things off with a two-year-old race in the wet here, which is always a risky betting proposition.

I’m interested in the double figure odds for (4) Passion For War here. He’s showed good speed in both recent trials and should be able to find the front. That will hold him in good stead at Pinjarra, which can play leaderish at times. He’ll give us a decent sight.

(7) Another Fish is on debut for Michelle Hagley, who trains and rides. Notably, Peter Fernie is in the ownership of the horse. Trialled well and can be competitive.

(9) Story Brook has trialled well twice and actually ran down Passion For War in their 400m heat. Probably goes forward from the wide gate with the apprentice on board.

(1) Diamond Blue will find this much easier than what he contested in his first three starts.

A race down the 1000m straight here and these are always a bit of a nightmare.

Interesting to see where they end up here, as typically the outside rail is the spot to be.

I’m going to have something tiny on (10) Crown Of Flowers. The horse might be completely useless but she’s first up for a new stable today with no public trial and gets all the gear come off her. Blinkers off, lugging bit off, tongue tie off. Could be way off the mark but at 25/1 it’s a throw at the stumps.

Pretty keen to have a decent crack here.

(4) American Grin was much better on his stable debut for new trainer Adam Durrant, hitting the line well from back in the field. The form out of that race is somewhat sketchy which is the concern, but this is a weak race.

(8) Special Picture has finished her past couple of races off well and can be competitive here. She didn’t get a lot of luck last time out and provided they can run on, she should be in the mix.

(1) Surveillance has placed in seven of his 10 career starts and finds another race he should be very competitive in. He’s had his chance so diving in at the short quote isn’t appealing. Hopefully they let him roll out the front today as he’ll be tough to catch.

(2) Warcidium was held up until the final 200m last start and only finished 2L off the leader. He’s another that’s had a few chances but can go close.

(6) Prize Pennies is a big price at $23. He hasn’t been bad in his first two runs back and now gets up to the mile third up.

(8) Lucie Manette next best.

This looks a terrific race for (5) Miss Marietta third up from a break. She was only 1.75L off London Miss two starts ago and then ran 2nd to What About Moses at Ascot last time out. Should get a great run from the gate today and has won both third up and on wet ground.

(2) Friar’s Fantasia looks the biggest danger, also third up and up to the mile.

(1) Bryce Road broke his maiden two starts ago over 2200m at Bunbury before dropping back to 1800m when 3rd last start at Ascot. Back up in distance today with the only query being the wide gate, he should be competitive at each way odds.

I think we’ll see (4) Unreliable go very close today, fourth up from a decent spell. His only career win was at this track and distance and on soft ground, so he gets conditions to suit today with the senior rider on from the good draw.

(3) The Roan Ranger will run his usual honest race.

(3) Billy Ain’t Silly finds a good race first up. He placed behind the likes of All Day Session before winning his second start at Belmont on soft ground. Failed last time we saw him but that was in Saturday grade and he was sent for a spell straight after it, so happy to forgive. Two trials leading into today, should go forward and prove very hard to beat.

(6) Skydance ran well first up and draws well in barrier 1.

(4) Westernize is an each way chance.
