Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, October 24th

A brilliant nine race card plays second fiddle to the Cox Plate in Melbourne, but Royal Randwick has some terrific betting opportunities on Bondi Stakes Day.

Randwick

A brilliant nine race card plays second fiddle to the Cox Plate in Melbourne, but Royal Randwick has some terrific betting opportunities on Bondi Stakes Day.

The track is currently a Good 4 though there is a possibility of some rain on race day so I think at worst we will be playing on a Soft 5 with surface water.

Expect being just off the leaders/midfield to be the best positions throughout the day.

Best Bet: Race 8 – (5) Hilo $3.80

Best Value: Race 4 – (5) Royal Celebration $6.60

I loved both the trials by this Sharmardal filly but at the back of my mind I must remember these are two-year-olds who are going to be forever learning. I have (7) Camino Real on top here. I thought her first trial was good and although on face value her stablemates trial looked better, she had to come off heels and quickened nicely which you like to see. Then in her second trial, she was nicely held together and wasn’t asked to do anything following rival (8) Cerda into the trial. She is drawn well enough and I am sure Brenton Avdulla will give her a nice ride throughout.

(11) Socialist who is a Capitalist filly is coming off a nice trial at Gosford and I would nearly have her on top if it wasn’t for the draw. I know a lot of people say “don’t worry about the draw”, but I don’t like it with these two-year-olds, but I will happily play her for a place.

(5) Total Babe is the only one with race experience and is drawn to give the others something to chase.

(2) Jumbo Goal next best.

(9) Eva’s Deel is the one I want to be with in the TAB Highway after two promising placings in the lead-up. Two back at Dubbo, she sat closer to the speed and looked the winner until she was over-run in the final stages. Then last start at Coonamble, she come from the second half of the field and narrowly missed running down the winner who led the entire way. She really savaged the line there and gives every indication 1800m is going to suit. The barrier is a slight issue though being a highway, there should be a bit of pace throughout.

(5) Rent A Rock was not far away a fortnight ago at Randwick over the mile. He has solid form over the 1800m and is a deserved favourite. He will go awfully close and is the danger.

(11) Cosmic Haze is coming out of the same races as our top pick and will be there abouts.

(2) Prince of Arragon next best.

I have decided to go with (2) On The Lead here as I think has the slightly better form than his rivals. He will drop behind the others from the draw and I do think the pace will be a touch above average. He made some good ground behind Wild Ruler last start which is superior form, even beating home Osamu and Doubtland in the process. He has proved he can run the trip out and I expect him to be hard to beat.

(7) Ballistic Lover looks to get a nice run throughout and be closer enough to strike on the pace providing they don’t push her forward themselves. I think she is a touch over overs.

(1) Destination has been close the past two and gets his chance here. The draw is fine and will just need clean air but will he get it too late?

(6) Private Cheetah next best, big fan of his and he will give them something to catch.

Top Pick: (2) On The Lead $4.60 Palmerbet

Odds Last Updated: October 25, 2020, 12:53am (AEDT)

Going a touch left field here and putting (5) Royal Celebration on top on the back of two genuinely nice trials. There is no doubting his class, which he proved last preparation with back to back wins in BM88 company before finishing fifth in a Group 3 after being wide throughout. Forget about his first-up record as most of them were over unsuitable distances and if the predicted small amount of rain turns up, it won’t bother him at all. I think he is a nice each-way play from the draw.

(8) Criaderas is the obvious danger, but it is too short to play with the query that he will be giving some of these a start. Happy to play against at the price.

(1) Ranier is the one with the awesome form but has to lug 62kg, which is the most he has carried since he was a maiden where he got beat by Nakeeta Jane carrying 61kg, but still beat home a horse called Kolding. Hold him safe.

(4) Cuba is a forgive last start and is the next best.

(4) Djukon is the one for me in this race after having a nice freshen up after his last start second to Attorney. Last start was his first run at 2400m in Australia and showed why he was brought to Australia. He gets another crack at the 2400m here and probably will sit a touch worse than midfield throughout. It isn’t a very deep race so expect him to definitely be in the finish.

(6) Naval Warfare looks to have found a new lease on life since his stable change and gets to tackle the 2400m again on a better track then what he found last start. He also gets the blinkers for the first time which may just do a trick on him.

(5) Attention Run has been up a little while now but does get to tackle this distance in a weaker grade and is a chance to make a dint in this field.

(7) Scarlet Dream is the next best.

Odds Last Updated: October 25, 2020, 12:53am (AEDT)

I’ll be playing two runners in this race and I will put this bloke on top. (1) Peltzer looks to have the goods after his last start win in the Stan Fox. I am hoping Tim Clark takes a sit in second behind (9) Elizabeel here and conserve the energy for the sprint home. I think he has the class to put these away though it worries me with which way they go tactics wise, hence the second bet.

(3) Acrophobic is the second bet and I think he is screaming out for a mile. He gets the winkers which will help him settle and John O’Shea stated during the week that this was a target for him and hits it at peak fitness. If all goes wrong for (1) Peltzer up front, this bloke will be flying late.

(2) Prime Star will be right in the finish, keep him safe in your exotics.

(4) Street Dancer to be hitting the line next in a weak field.

Top Pick: (1) Peltzer $2.60 Sportsbet

Next Pick: (3) Acrophobic $5.00 TAB

This is a cracking edition of the Nivision with plenty of chances. I have (4) Jen Rules on top here after two cracking runs in the Group 2 Sheraco and Golden Pendant. She is drawn ideally to get a sweet run throughout and is going to be spot on fitness wise for this assignment. She is brilliant each-way odds in a wide-open race.

I will also be playing (2) Sweet Deal. There is no doubting her class and she has had a minor break since her gut-busting runs in the Sheraco and Golden Pendant where she drew barriers 16 and 10, respectively. She has drawn barrier 1 which is ideal and will do little work to sit predominantly. She has the class and if she can real off some easy sectionals, she is going to be hard to catch.

(5) Seasons may slip into the placings after a short freshen up

(6) Wandabaa is also in the mix. Hard to leave the others out, this is a cracking race.

(5) Hilo is the top pick here after he should have probably won last start behind stablemate Athiri. He drew awkwardly on the day and had to settle to the rear which proved his undoing, going down by less than half a length. He has drawn the inside barrier this time in which will ensure he sits closer in the run and if there is rain about it won’t bother him. He looks ready to peak third-up.

His stable mate (6) Pandemic looks a big threat coming off an impressive mid-week placing behind Villiami and California Zimbol (who won a stakes race at Caulfield since). He will be giving them a start from barrier 15, so make sure he is in your exotics and quaddie.

(1) Inanup has to carry a big weight but does perform well fresh and is coming back from a let-up.

Tough race to end the day on but I want to stick with (13) Invinciano as she looks for three straight wins. We were with her when she won two back at Kensington beating home Acrophobic and Rathvilly Miss who have both performed since. She then backed up five days late much to my amazement and made light work of a weak field. Although her draw is a touch awkward, there is barely any speed to her inside so she will get across nicely but most likely sit behind the speed who will come from outside her. Expect her to be right the in the finish from an ideal spot.

(6) Betcha Flying is a good chance from an awkward gate. I thought she was pretty good in better company over this track and distance last start.

(11) Icebath is drawn well but is close to being in the sea.

(12) Petronius next best.

Top Pick: (13) Invinciano $11.00 Bet365
