(3) Yulong Premier brings the best form in my opinion, running 2nd to Need New Friends last start. The start before that he failed but did start $6 behind Allibor. Gets a huge jockey change with Willo replacing Moor, and he maps to lead comfortably from barrier 4.
(2) Dragon Time is the obvious danger but has been getting back in the field. I’ve no doubt 1600m will suit but if he’s giving Yulong Premier a good head start, I’d rather play the percentages and stick with the leader, especially at the better odds.

Very interesting to see Nash down here in Melbourne, and he takes the ride on the favourite (5) Ord. He ran 2nd to Ocean Beyond last start, and the form out of that race has looked very strong. The winner has won at listed grade since, and the 3rd placegetter was an impressive 3yo bm64 winner last Wednesday. He gets Nash, should be able to find a decent spot in running, and if he brings his run last start, he’ll be hard to beat.

Small field of 2yo fillies, all of which are on debut. The pick of the jumpouts did look to be the favourite (7) Vandoula Lass, who gets Willo on for the Hawkes stable.
She looked to go a bit better than (6) Translation in their jumpout, but she looked good as well and draws barrier 1 which should help.
No firm opinion here- Vandoula Lass the horse to beat but happy to just watch.

In an open race, (3) Gibbon isn’t hopeless. He’s been contesting much stronger races, the last two coming over the 955m circuit. He’s been well beaten but did win a bm70 over 1000m three starts back quite impressively. He draws well here in barrier 4 and gets Riordan’s 2kg claim which should help.
(5) Tycoon Bella brings some handy mare’s form from last prep. She draws wide here and is perhaps better over a bit further.
(6) Rutherford was an impressive winner last start at Geelong in easier grade but looks to have come back an improved horse.
(1) Carlingford isn’t hopeless but the 3kg claimer doesn’t fill me with confidence despite bringing some decent form.

Handy race, as these 3yo bm64’s often are. I made a case for (1) Chequerboard last start and she ran okay behind Hindaam. Her run first up was very good behind that same horse. I think she’s probably short enough here at $2.90 however, up against some handy maiden winners.
(3) Mona Dream was one of those, winning at Ballarat. The form out of that race has already been strong, with the 2nd horse winning a midweek maiden here. There was 5L back to 3rd there which is always a good sign.
(2) Mystique Falcon had a good first prep and does have a win here over 1300m in a handy race.

Very, very open. I’ve landed with (3) Ameliaranne on top at a price. She was beaten 7.5L last start, but that was in much stronger grade- basically a listed quality race. She got a long way back there and came very wide. She gets Olly replacing Allen here, draws beautifully in barrier 3 and her form prior to last start was easily good enough to be competitive here.
(5) Little Mermaid comes here first up and does bring some solid form behind Lunakorn last prep. She draws wide here and I’m not sure that they’ll do from the map.
(9) Lady D’oro jumps in grade but was impressive first up at Traralgon.

Up to 1800m is really going to suit (4) Redwood Rising. I liked his win at Moe last start over 1600m, getting going late to get up on the line. His run first up over an unsuitable 1400m was solid, and he does boast a 3rd at Werribee, where High Emocean finished just ahead of him in 2nd. They’ve opted for the 3kg claim for Will Price, but he does map fairly well from a middle barrier and can win at each way odds.
(12) Perennial brings some solid form and wasn’t disgraced behind Tralee Rose last start.
(13) Collectable wasn’t far off Rocha Clock last start which reads very well, but she did start $101 there and her form prior wasn’t outstanding. She’s an obvious winning hope down sharply in grade, nonetheless.

Good race to finish, and pattern will be key. If it’s on pace suited, (5) Kuzco Lad becomes very hard to beat. He won easily at Mornington two back before just being run down late last start. Gets Nash on from a perfect barrier, although back to 1400m may be a slight concern.
The swooper will be (2) Triton Rising, coming off an impressive win at Cranbourne. He should be at peak fitness here 3rd up, and has run 4th, beaten 1.3L by Banquo in listed grade. I wish he’d drawn a bit better, because he will need to run down a fit, in horse Waterhouse/Bott horse with Nash on, which is never easy, but I think he’s the best horse in the race. If it’s hard to make ground you’ll get a better price about him, so just watch the first few races to gauge how the track is playing. All things being fair, I’ve got him on top and saving Kuzco Lad.
