Happy to stick with (3) Chain here after a big run last start at Pakenham when 3 wide on speed in a fairly genuine tempo. The stable scratched him from Moonee Valley for this and it looks an ideal race to lead and dictate here 3rd up.

(2) Over Boost is interesting. He was sold to Hong Kong off a NSW trial but hasn’t fired at all, never finishing inside the top 10. He’s trialled quite well but does have some negative gear changes and I’m prepared to just watch him here.

(5) Heavenly Eagle has trialled well for his debut and can figure.

Tip: (3) Chain- $3.60 at Bet365

Trusting the SP on debut and backing (5) Sir Bailey, son of champion mare Jameka. He was green and took a while to wind up at Pakenham but kept closing to get within a length on the line. Winkers on, up 100m in trip and race experience under the belt look ideal, and now we’re getting $3.30 instead of $1.95.

(2) Merchant Prince won that race and also took a fair time to wind up. He was well supported on debut behind Philosopher but failed badly. The blinkers on seemed to do the trick and he only goes up 1kg.

(3) Maroubra was solid on debut in a dash home and brings some different form.

(7) Water Bomber was good in the Sir Bailey race but once Sir Bailey ran straight that horse did get past him again late.

Tip: (5) Sir Bailey- $3.30 at Sportsbet

Betting Strategy: 0.5 units WIN Sir Bailey

12. Hard Squeeze (7) J: Patrick Moloney (55.5kg) T: R Griffiths & M De Kock

(7) Hereforagoodtime is racing well and did a good job to score last time out despite being held up, beating a subsequent winner in Secret Sheema. She’s up in grade but drops 3kg and should be hard to beat again.

(11) Tictoc Tictoc was good in the same race and gets blinkers on for the first time which could help.

(10) Oh So Far will be fitter 3rd up, dropping in grade and rising in trip.

(12) Hard Squeeze next best.

11. Meet The Missus (3) J: Remi Tremsal (54kg) T: Peter Ioannou

Good little contest between the two favourites. (1) Castlereagh Kid was dominant at Gosford first up at a mile, leading at a good tempo and bolting in by 8 lengths. His 2nd to Hoover Lucy last prep reads well, with that filly only 3L off Fangirl at listed level. He’ll lead from barrier 1 and take plenty of running down.

(5) Aspen Colorado is the danger. He was good first up over an unsuitable 1400m, running on strongly for 2nd despite the rider dropping the whip 200m out which would’ve made things interesting. Not sure about his map- he’s never drawn a gate so never really had the option to land closer.

Can’t see anything else measuring up to those two who each have plenty of talent and upside. The best way to back both is to equal stake, take around $2.20 f0r Aspen Colorado or break even on the favourite.

8. Livingstone Falls (7) J: Blaike Mcdougall (56kg) T: Andrew Noblet
4.886.7

(5) Wegobam drops back to 1300m after a couple of strong efforts behind Yonce at 1400m. She can get a fair way back and will need some luck from barrier 2.

(2) Rapid Achiever had a good three run debut prep, winning on a heavy track over this sort of trip on debut. She’ll get better over a bit further but has upside.

(8) Livingstone Falls was good early last prep but does need another win.

(7) She’s Original is flying and will make her own luck again.

(1) Lloyd’s Crown is the one to beat. He’s the one best suited to 1000m and was very good when wide on speed first up last prep, only 3-4L off some handy sprinting 3yo’s (2yo’s at the time). The Poseidon 3rd to Ranch Hand reads extremely well for this.

(2) Prowling is a progressive horse who ran well in some stronger city 3yo races last prep. All his runs were at 1200m so he’ll need to be quite sharp to keep up with Lloyd’s Crown.

(4) Tea Master was solid first up winning a maiden and might be able to progress here.

9. Universal Lady (4) J: John Allen (58kg) T: C Maher & D Eustace
3.54.64.3

(8) Universal Lady is consistent but becoming very costly to follow. Her last two over this trip she’s gotten a long way back and flown home. With the right run and race shape she can definitely atone.

(4) More was solid in the same race when wide and is back in her right race with a good map. She can either lead or box seat from barrier 3 and take plenty of running down.

(6) Mister Monaro improved lengths 2nd up and if he does so again will be competitive.

(2) All Stardom had the right run first up at Stony Creek and looks to get the right run again from barrier 2.

(2) Megamea is the one to beat in my opinion. She’s up in weight but going super this prep and looked a touch unlucky last start in a Saturday bm78, having to change course a couple of times in the straight and just missing in a fast run race. The win prior was good and she maps very nicely.

(4) Pounding ran on very well in a strong bm64 last start behind Pascero. The Moody stable is flying and he might be able to tag Megamea in the run.

(5) Reigate won well on debut before taking on an admittedly weak group 2 and running well. He looks well placed here.

(6) Place Of Gold may be looking for 1400m now after a solid effort down the straight last start.

Saver: (4) Pounding- $4.20 at TAB

Betting Strategy: 1.5 units WIN Megamea, 0.5 units WIN Pounding

Trent’s interest in the thoroughbred started out as a spark with Black Caviar, became a flame with Winx, and has now intensified into a burning obsession with Arcadia Queen. He started out throwing loose change on random trifectas at the pub, but it wasn’t long before he was watching replays and looking at sectionals, weights and markets. Trent specializes in Victorian racing and hopes his first winner as an owner is just around the corner.
