Good maiden to kick us off. (9) Tycoon Bucks put in a huge run last start at this T/D, charging home from a long way back to just miss Rising Sphere. She started a big price there but take that run in isolation and I think she deserves to be favourite. Kah sticks, she draws better in barrier 4 and should be hard to beat.
(4) The Duke Of Hazard resumes here. His two runs at 1200m have both been very solid but were on synthetic. Zahra booked first up should see him run well.
(2) Johnny Angel looks close to win and should have every chance on speed. The form behind Real Gun reads well.
(7) Ord has turned into a money muncher, but perhaps he didn’t run out the 1440m last start. He’s had a long first prep and looks a risk, with his SP profile anchoring him down.

We should get a good test of the two main form-lines through race 1. (8) Sayumi was a big winner first up, coming from well off the speed to run down Real Gun. She was then backed into odds on and couldn’t get past the leader. She draws well here, gets Riordan’s claim and should be hard to beat again.
(9) Rising Sphere brings the Tycoon Bucks form from last start and was a strong winner. The run first up behind Dickin Medal suddenly looks very strong with that horse winning at Caulfield.
(6) Toorak Warrior could be the blowout chance. He’s got lengths to make up, coming out of an average race at Geelong, but the stable is absolutely flying, and he’ll start a big price on the exchange.
Found it very hard to split Sayumi and Rising Sphere, so something very small on Toorak Warrior who should start closer to 50s late.

(5) Duke Of Neworleans couldn’t have been more impressive on debut, leading all the way and bolting in by 8 lengths. That was on a heavy 9, and with showers predicted leading into the day we could strike another fairly soft track. The $1.75 available looks a fair price considering all of this. If we’re on a soft 6 or worse, I think he could start even shorter.
(7) Goolagong Rose is racing well but hasn’t seen a soft track and loses J Kah.
She jumps on (3) Helavabel who is racing well but can’t find the post first. He’ll run well again but it’s hard to see anything troubling the favourite.

(5) Yukon is a tricky horse to line up, coming out of a Kembla Grange class 1. It’s interesting placement to see him in Melbourne, and he gets Willo on, but it’s not like he’s coming out of a particularly strong race.
(1) Typhoon Harmony is racing well and probably leads from barrier 1. The 3rd to Miss Albania on debut reads well, and he finished close up last start over 1400m.
(2) Cabinho is the interesting one. He didn’t do much first up, finishing 5.1L off Jazz Star at Caulfield. Looking at his run sectionally however, his run wasn’t all that bad. He settled near last in a slowly run race, and just had to do too much work to get into the race. His 1000-800m split was equal fastest of the race and his 800-600m was the fastest when trying to improve out wide. His 600-400m was only the 8th fastest of the race when approaching the turn, but his 400-200m was 3rd fastest, before fitness gave out over the final 200m. All his best runs last prep came on wet tracks, including a 2.6L 5th to Walking Flying at Flemington. At the prices, he’s the one I want to be with.

One of the harder races of the day. (5) Prism is the narrow favourite coming off a 2nd to Kurabui who looks quite talented. He’d much prefer the track to be dry, having only placed once on a soft track.
(2) Larrikin comes here 3rd up after a good run last start. Perhaps he’s looking for further than the 1600m now, but he handles all track conditions and should run well.
(9) Kansino looks ready to win as well. She was run down late by Florida Dream at Wodonga last start, with that horse coming out and running 4th in a much stronger race behind Fundraiser at Flemington since.
(6) Dance Date next best.

(4) Night Passage was a dominant winner last start at Sale when leading all the way. All three runs this prep have been very solid. Her dam was an out and out stayer, and off the strength of her last run I can’t see the 2100m being an issue. If we’re on a genuinely wet surface she might struggle though.
(1) Hard ‘n’ Tough is racing well and will be on speed giving her all. Melissa Julius generally rides her well and 4th up now, she should be peaking.
I’m not sure if this was by design, but it’s interesting Kah rides (5) Meehni for the McEvoy yard, with Night Passage also in the race, whom she rode two back at The Valley. Meehni’s run last start was very solid, starting $3.60 and crossing the line with Takumi, who beat Hard ‘n’ Tough fair and square at Caulfield. A soft track is unknown with her also and she hasn’t won for a while, but the Kah factor cannot be underestimated.

(2) Sophie’s Revenge is coming off a good win in the Penshurst Cup, beating Tough Vic who had run well at Flemington prior. Her run two back when missing the start was good behind Influential Girl at The Valley.
(4) Chaska followed the winner Feuermond into the race last start but was no match late, putting a gap on 3rd. That horse was well backed but pulled up with significant post-race issues at Flemington. The draw is a bit tricky, but a repeat of that run would go close.
(9) Star Ines loses D Lane but was solid last start after a dominant maiden win prior.

(3) Indispensable can win again in a very open race. He’s started odds on in both runs since a freshen up and has won comfortably. He maps well and Campbell Rawiller’s 3kg claim is very handy.
(2) Muswellbrook ran a good race behind Defiant Dancer on resumption. He was only 1.35L off Riding The Wave, who has won at Flemington since. 1400m second up should suit nicely, it’s just where he gets to on the map.
(9) Translator is perhaps the horse with the most upside in the race. He beat Hasseltoff first up last prep to break his maiden, but that was over 1600m. His run behind Right You Are at Caulfield in the Autumn would win this, I just wonder if the distance might be a bit sharp.
(8) Eluding has claims first up, as does (11) Whittington Stone 3rd up.
