The Winx Guineas highlights a good day of racing and Billy Bestford is keen to play in a few races.

We have a great meeting at the Sunshine Coast today with nine races on the card, highlighted by the Winx Guineas. This meeting was originally meant to go ahead last Saturday but had been postponed due to heavy rain. The track today is currently rated a soft 7 and the rail is in the true position.

Happy to have something on (1) Just Orm who is a proven performer in races like this. Absolutely loves the Sunny Coast track and is now ready to put in a peak performance 3rd up from a spell. Work has been good in recent starts and looks ready to win.

(6) Totally Charmed is clearly a progressive type and will be hardest to beat. His trials leading into this have been very good and is another who grows an extra leg at this Sunshine Coast track. Seven starts for five wins here and four wins from seven over this trip tells you this loves this setup.

Honestly thought (11) Rebel Rock was a massive each-way chance and was expecting him to be a bit shorter in the market. Was doing his best work late when 1st up over this trip at the Gold Coast and will improve off the back of that. Will enjoy getting back into a bigger track today where he’s missed the trifecta just once in six starts here.

(9) L’Cosm0 was a very tough winner here after dropping from a good listed race to a bm75. Goes very well 3rd up and should be given a dream run by Maloney from barrier 2. Has some strong formlines from her time in Sydney and looks a massive chance in a race of this quality.

(10) Jetski is as honest as they come and will run well as he always does. Loves this track/trip and looks ready to peak 3rd up following two good runs this prep.

I’ll be backing a couple of runners here and (12) Profit will be one of those. Was a massive winner when coming from the back fresh before not being suited by the way the track was playing in the Wayne Wilson. Gets a lot more tempo up front today and should be ready to fire back at a track he loves.

Hard to leave the Victorian visit (6) Charleise out of your numbers at the moment. She’s absolutely airborne and has proven she adapts to any track she races at, coming off a good 2nd in Victoria followed by two straight wins at Rosehill and then Eagle Farm last start. Byrne will have options frim barrier 5 and I wouldn;t be surprised to see her finishing strongly again.

(15) Splendoronthegrass looks the value in the race and I’m expecting a much improved run back in this grade. Flies 3rd up and has the quality to win this.

Billy Bestford

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
