The Swan Hill carnival gets underway on Friday and Trent Crebbin is betting into three races.

The three day Swan Hill carnival kicks off on Friday, with the Golden Topaz headlining the day’s racing action.

The track is currently rated a Soft 5, with the rail in the true position.

Trent Crebbin has picked out three races he’s keen to bet into, including the feature.

Keen to bet here because there’s a horse at horrible unders. (1) Fundraiser is the horse to beat and will be a saver. First up and 1200m are queries but he’s a very good horse and class will take him a long way.

The one that should be shorter is (2) Yulong Storm who gets onto his home track. His record here is outstanding with 3 wins and a 2nd from 4 starts and Hobson runners always have to be given a good look during this carnival. At $6.00 he’s a good bet.

The lay is (4) Air Defence who I can’t believe is shorter than Yulong Storm. His only wins are a narrow maiden and the weirdest race on All Star Mile day on a heavy track at 1600m. He’s not suited at 1200m and looks very short at $4.40.

(5) All About Eve should be winning here and she’s drifted a bit early so hopefully we get even money. She beat Mac ‘n’ Cheese on debut who should’ve won his next start, and she should’ve beaten Magic Max at Caulfield last start when not getting clear. That’s solid form and I’d be happy to take a best tote/betfair starting price about her.

(1) Castile finally got clear air and quickened well to win on debut. Plenty of upside and it’s hard to gauge how far he’d have won by with more luck. Obvious danger.

The feature of the day is the Golden Topaz over 1200m. Tricky race but I can make a case for (2) More Than Exceed who is coming off a long break but does fly fresh with 3 wins from 5 starts. His best is up to this sort of level and the one jumpout I can find at Pakenham he sat OSL and won quite well under no pressure. He also has a win at this track when leading all the way and although I can’t see him leading here, if he can follow Open Minded across and get 1-1 that would be ideal.

(5) Open Minded was flying prior to going to NSW in the Wagga Cup where he was very disappointing. That was a stronger race and back to Victoria helps.

(3) All To Royal is easily good enough at his best but hasn’t shown it for a while now and is a tricky horse to assess.

Trent Crebbin

Trent’s interest in the thoroughbred started out as a spark with Black Caviar, became a flame with Winx, and has now intensified into a burning obsession with Arcadia Queen. He started out throwing loose change on random trifectas at the pub, but it wasn’t long before he was watching replays and looking at sectionals, weights and markets. Trent specializes in Victorian racing and hopes his first winner as an owner is just around the corner.
