Billy Bestford brings you his best bets at Wagga to round out the working week.

We turn our focus to Wagga today where there are 9 races on the card.

The track is currently rated a Heavy 8 while the rail is out 3 metres from the 1400m to the post and in the true position the remainder of the track. There’s been a heap of rainfall over the last 24 hours so I expect us to be racing on a heavy track for the whole meeting.

Billy Bestford has once again done the form and has found his best bets for the meeting. They come up in race 1, race 5 and race 9.

(5) Logan River looks a good winning chance here, in what is a pretty strong race to kick off the meeting. Is always a good horse fresh and will love the heavy conditions today. Should map for the gun run, loves racing at his home track and at the price, looks a good bet.

(1) Yeldarb looks hard to beat on class but will have to negate the wide draw and the big weight which isn’t an easy task over 1000m. Was huge last start narrowly missing at big odds and is another who will love the sting out of the ground.

Can’t get near (3) Shores Of Avalon at the current price. Looks a massive query on the heavy track, having struggled on rain affected going previously. Clearly has come back in good order and looks a big danger if he gets through the conditions.

(7) Jac The Great still has plenty of upside and comes into this after a very good 2nd when resuming, beaten by the wide draw that day. Looks perfectly suited rising slightly in trip and bolted in on a soft track at the end of last prep.

(1) Golwen draws a gate today and I think he is a winning chance. Didn’t mind him at a big price last start in a Saturday Highway and he ran well after being stuck wide the whole way. A winner 3rd up previously and gets through the conditions.

(2) In De Sun Iwilcome was only narrowly beaten last start at Hawkesbury and should take plenty of improvement out of that. Mcdougall should put him up on speed and looks the most progressive of this lot.

Keen to finish the day with (5) Power Me Up who was a good winner last start at Albury on a heavy track. Looks suited back up to the mile and is a good chance to make it three straight wins. Beat stablemate Swagger last start who has since won a strong Saturday Highway. Hard to beat.

(6) Stand Your Ground ran home really well last start over 1400m after getting too far back in the run. Should be more prominent today from the inside draw and will enjoy getting back to her home track where she has a strong record.

Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since.
