The Tas Morton trained (2) Stonecold Flex comes to Taree today looking to make it two on the trot after his massive win at Coffs Hardbour. The Carlton House gelding sat just behind the leader who strung the field out before taking over in the straight and winning by 3.8 lengths in heavy conditions. He gets similar conditions here where he will get to sit just behind the leader or lead himself from barrier two and he gets a similar weight tackling the 1300m again up in class. His record over 1300m and this track is good and has race here twice over 1300m for a win and a second. Mikayla Weir sticks which is a positive and although the track may dry out a touch, all of his better runs have been on soft-heavy going and I don’t see the track getting out of the soft range. He will be hard to beat.

I think bloke has come up over the odds and will take some catching. (5) Tallis tackles the Taree 1000m here third-up after two below standard runs. I am willing to forgive those runs as I think he runs better with some sting out of the track and both races were in Highway grade, which is tough on the best of days. This is a lot easier than what he has been contesting and he will be fighting fit third-up. He has drawn well in barrier five and Belinda Hodder has ridden him before so she should be able to get the best out of him. I think he is a nice price for us to have an each-way bet and he will get every chance in the run.
