The favourite (5) Andress was popular first-up and ran a pretty solid race, placing second at this track over the 1100 metres. She steps up in distance slightly and has every chance to go one better. This is a pretty thin looking affair, and if she races up to her previous start she will take plenty of beating.

Pretty comfortable sticking with (3) Cop A Clip after her last start maiden victory. She was unlucky not to have already posted that win, and she can step into this grade against a mediocre field. The Maher/Eustace stable are pretty sharp, and they’ll know that this is a suitable race despite the jump in class. Unfortunately the bookies and punters have found her and we’re getting rock-bottom odds. Regardless, goes on top.

I like the way (7) Aurora’s Symphony has been racing prior to this run. She has been consistent in this grade, and maybe a touch unfortunate not to have already won, but she gets another chance today and gets the jockey change of Beau Mertens. She is clearly hitting peak fitness now. (9) Peace Process can continue to improve, and is in the mix at a nice price.

The Horse

The Horse found the thought of placing bets and drinking beers much more appealing once he was married, and that led to an interest in the many intricacies of The Great Game. He enjoys the challenge of predicting what will happen in any given race, but also loves horses themselves, none more so than the mighty mudlark Jungle Edge. His focus lies on metropolitan racing in Victoria and NSW, however isn’t afraid to find one out wide. Away from racing, The Horse is an avid drummer – quite a difficult task with a set of hooves.
