Looks a challenging race to start the day here and I am siding with the Waller trained filly (1) Comporta once again. I thought she was pretty good on debut behind Virgo, despite being beaten by 2.8 lengths. She will come on massively from that first-up run and looks as though she will handle the 1400m trip, judging by the way she travelled through the line. Although she has to carry the top weight, she gets the benefit of Jason Collett in the reins and stepping back onto a firmer surface. I expect her to get a nice run throughout before peeling off the leaders in the straight and staking her claim.
(6) Desert Flame is probably a horse flying under the radar here after back-to-back solid runs at Wyong. Two back she finished under a length to Teronito before running a solid race on the heavy going behind Solar Apex. She is back on top of the ground with no weight on her back. She is a nice each-way chance.
(3) Shivani was solid at Newcastle, but I believe she will need to improve here.

This does look a race in two here in the second between (1) Law Party and (3) Vanderland.
(1) Law Party peeled off the front of the field at Canterbury but just couldn’t get past the fit Major Artie in the shadows of the post. He started favourite on the day and was well fancied by the punters but unfortunately, he couldn’t get it done. He will be better for the experience and the step up to 1400m looks as though it suits. Josh Parr should be in a prime spot from barrier 3 and he will get every chance to salute here.
(3) Vanderland is the one I favour in this race and just so happens to be the outsider of the two in the betting. He was very good first-up despite running the last 700m wide with no cover. He looked the winner late before he was over-run in the concluding stages by a couple of nice horses in Fifteen Aria and Flexible, who have both run well since. I love that he ran over 1300m first-up and the extra 100m will suit. Having this second-up run on a dry track is ideal and depending on the tactics adopted, Tommy Berry could give them a start, but shouldn’t be too far off them on the turn.
(2) Cash Register is the only other one that can run a race in my opinion but will have to contend with a poor barrier also. 1400m looks like it will suit him well.

This is another race with no depth, but I have sided with a bloke who should get all the favours. (7) Able Hill is a deserved favourite and only got run over late by the promising Miss Dior. He has a low weight with a nice barrier, so I expect Tim Clark to stalk the lead before making his move in the straight. He will come on nicely second-up and is drawn to be a real pain throughout for the opposition.
I did like the lead-up trial of (2) Calipari on his return from surgery. The son of Written Tycoon led the entire way in the Newcastle trial and wasn’t given a soft time in front to salute by 3.2 lengths. He usually goes well first-up and this isn’t an overly strong field, so it won’t surprise me if they head to the front with the 3kg claim of Brandon Griffiths and just let him go.
(3) Shadow Bridge was very bold in front last start just being pipped on the line by Triple Ace, who has since come out and run well in Saturday grade. Will no doubt accelerate to the front from the gate and will give himself every chance providing he doesn’t get into a speed battle.

With the track likely to improve throughout the day, (3) Constanzia looks a nice bet here. She returned with a bang first-up when at Muswellbrook, running down the fit Free Rider whilst easily holding off the rest of the field by 4.3 lengths. I am putting a line through last start at Newcastle as a fair bit went wrong in the straight and she was also slow to begin, which put him in an unfamiliar spot in the run to what she is used to. She became held up on the heels of another runner at the 300m mark before shifting out at the 200m mark to get clear. She was no match late in the piece but still finished off the race well. Up to 1400m here third-up with the best metro apprentice in this apprentice race and an improving track are all factors that will contribute to her doing well here.
(4) Margie Bee will be in front for a long way and is deep into her preparation. Back onto a good track and mapped to lead easy, she is going to be hard to beat.
(6) Havin’ Fun is coming back from Saturday grade and coming back to a firmer surface. She is drawn well and should get a nice run throughout to be a factor late.

This isn’t the best race on the card with a lot of horses with little acceleration and looking for further. I thought (6) Azarmin returned well at Newcastle with a very well-timed ride by Andrew Gibbons, to salute on the post. Her second-up record isn’t too bad, and neither is her history over the mile. The issue is going to be the tricky barrier and where she will get to in the run. She won’t want to be too far off them for her to be a chance, so let’s hope Tim Clark has her in a prime position.
(5) All Things is a terrific each-way price, and I wouldn’t be leaving him out of your exotics. He will be giving them a start from the barrier and map perspective, but he will be coming late. I think a mile is a touch short for him, hence why I think he is more an exotic play.
(3) Wairere Falls is a grinding type who is ideally draw from the perspective of where he will get to in the run. Tommy Berry is off (2) Mubariz and on this bloke which is sign and the drop in class will also help.

Happy to speck (3) Boomtown Rat here at the each-way odds as he returns from a 15-week break. His previous first-up record is pretty decent, and this is no doubt the easiest first-up assignment he has had for some time. He hits the 1400m here on the back of two 1000m trials, so I expect him to be ready for this one. He is drawn well to be able to sit wherever he pleases and on a track that is drying and may end up closer to good throughout the day, he is a top each-way chance.
(1) Awesome Lad steps up to town for a crack and has a few factors against him like weight and the draw. There is no doubting that he has some talent going for three wins on the trot, but I think the task might just be a bit too hard for him. On the positive, Jason Deamer is training up a storm at the moment and this field isn’t overly strong, so he might not get a better chance to notch a victory up, despite the weight and draw.
(2) Casino Mondial gets back on top of the ground and will be much fitter for the run at Wyong. He has failed in town previously but being second-up on a drying track with Josh Parr aboard, brings him in as one for the exotics.

I was with (10) Front Money last start where I thought she had her chance but just wasn’t good enough on the night. I don’t think she overly like the soft going and will love the possible conditions at hand here. She finished within a length of Triple Ace, who has come out and run well in Saturday grade, so the form stacks up nicely. She is third-up and up to 1200m, so I expect Tommy Berry to be somewhat positive from the draw and sit in a prominent position throughout.
(11) Vreneli will be in front a long way and will get his first go on top of the ground. He is drawn well and if he can get some easy sectionals in front, he will be hard to catch.
(1) He’s A Hotshot steps back in grade for this one and has to carry the 61kg from an awkward barrier. I think he will be in this a long way but I think weight will get to him late.
