(6) King Of Naples has trialled well ahead of his debut here and James McDonald is booked to ride for John O’Shea. His first trial was back in November, before returning with a 1.7L victory in his most recent jumpout. Both have been on heavy ground so he should handle today’s conditions.

The Waterhouse-Bott debutant (8) North Star Lass has also trialled well. She ran 2nd in her first jumpout before winning her most recent showing on the Polytrack. You’d think from the low draw they’ll eb jumping straight to the front.

(3) Chipper and (2) Basquiat next best.

Impossible betting race with Waller having four of the seven runners, including (8) Waterford who makes his Australian debut without having trialled publicly. His only career start was at Newbury in the UK where he ran 3rd. Normally these Waller imports are given a trial or two before their first runs but that isn’t the case here. Interesting to see how the market reacts.

(9) Headliner ran well fresh but couldn’t reel in Compassionate. Draws for a gun run with JMac sticking with and should be in the finish again.

(6) Navy Seal fought out the finish on debut at Newcastle in an encouraging effort. That was on heavy ground so today’s conditions should pose no problem.

Chances don’t end there.

Tip: (9) Headliner $2.90 Ladbrokes

(4) Hold On Honey resumes off a winning trial with James McDonald booked for Joe Pride, not a combination you see often. In fact, they haven’t combined at all in the past 12 months. Seems a good lead and he did run 2nd to Kallos last preparation, who then went to Flemington and won a Group 2.

(6) Mission Value resumes off two fair trials. He’s only had one career start which came in the Inglis Nursery in December 2020. They’ve kept him a colt which is interesting, so he must have some sort of ability. Interesting to see what the market does with him.

(11) Deep Romance ran 2nd in two of his three starts in his first preparation and was only beaten 1.75L when 4th on debut. Should measure up here.

(4) Pale King hasn’t had much luck in recent starts, sitting three-deep the trip two starts back before being held up for clear running last time out. Up to 2400m now, it’s getting to D-day for him.

(7) Forever You bolted in at Newcastle over a similar distance two starts ago before dropping back to 1900m last start. Was beaten nearly 5L but that was a Saturday race so should find this much easier.

(8) Sound Of Cannons next best.

(7) Straight Arron won nicely on debut at Sandown in Melbourne and Chris Waller wastes no time bringing him to Sydney. He’s had a quiet trial since that win and provided he handles today’s heavy track, he should be winning again.

(8) Loch Eagle broke his maiden by 4L first up on a heavy track at the provincials. Always a little query how that form lines up here but couldn’t have done much more.

(4) All England was good here at Warwick Farm two starts ago before pulling up with cardiac arrhythmia last start. Obvious forgive and on previous efforts can go close.

Competitive race this, despite the favourite (4) Diamil appearing very hard to beat. His first up run in Australia over 1250m was very good, hitting the line strongly on the heavy 9. Up to the mile second up looks very suitable as this is the distance he did most of his racing over in the UK. Clearly the horse to beat, but not necessarily a sure thing.

(5) From The Bush was good first up on the Kensington track, before a luckless run in the National Sprint at Canberra last start. Undefeated third up and has a terrific record on wet ground.

(7) Akihiro is another that looks ready to peak third up. Won his only start on heavy ground and is also undefeated third up.

(11) Verona is a big watch on Australian debut for Maher and Eustace with Pike in the saddle.

(9) Ita somehow didn’t go past the leader last start; will obviously be competitive again.

(16) Six Again finds a competitive race to tackle first up but she hasn’t done much wrong in her first four starts. She’s won at this track previously on a heavy 9 and if she returns in the form she’s showed to date, she’ll be hard to beat.

(12) Turnstyle gets blinkers back on third up on his home deck so should be included at a price.

(1) Dragonstone had excuses first up in the Fireball Stakes and drops in class for this. Can bounce back.

Complete lottery this to end the card! You could legitimately make a case for every single runner in the race.

(7) Bubbly Lass could be an each way option at double figure odds. She’s only missed a place once in her eight career starts. First up run in Victoria was sound off a lengthy spell and she’s effective on rain-affected ground.

(13) Vilana was very good in his first two starts in Victoria and has trialled up well ahead of his return in Sydney today.

Waller’s two runners (10) Arranmore and (17) Vivid Flash both come into this off 2nd placings and neither have finished out of the top two yet.

(1) Cotehele is undefeated first up.

A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne. He’s a fan of dry tracks, Zac Purton and takes particular interest in identifying patterns in the form. Tim wears many hats, juggling the roles of form analyst, jockey manager and racehorse owner.
