I found this quite a narrow maiden and it is shown in the prices. (1) Big Lion is yet to break the maiden status in five starts but is yet to finish worse than fourth. First-up at Hawkesbury he gave weight to all of his rivals and managed to finish a length off the winner Edmond in third. He faces (6) Mission Bravo again in this race who is also well in the market, though our boy gets a 0.5kg swing despite beating Mission Bravo by 1.2 lengths. He is drawn to sit ideally from the inside barrier and with Jason Collett aboard (who has a 25%-win strike rate at Wyong), he should be able to give him a peach run throughout.

Gone a bit wider here with (5) Mission Way after he broke his maiden status last start. At Kembla Grange on Cup Day, he led the whole way on the heavy going to win by 0.1 of a length. The horse that ran second that day Ruddock was a solid winner at Canterbury next start, so the form stands up well. He is drawn well, gets back on top of the ground second-up and carries 55kg with the claim of Tyler Schiller. I expect them to lead much of the way and give us a good sight for our money. If they can get some cheap sectionals, the $9.50 is going to look like gold.

I don’t mind the set up in the last for (1) All Things as he tackles the mile second-up. Last start at Kembla Grange, he raced keenly throughout the middle stages and had to be steadied off heels around the 1000m mark before continually being steadied from heels when the pace went out of the race. He then had to go around the opposition and I believe he just got into the open too early before grinding to the finish in third. He is drawn well to sit ideally throughout, steps up to the mile where his record is good and has raced well here at Wyong before. Josh Parr takes the ride, and he loves Wyong, so I expect a peach from him here, I just hope he watches the tapes of his rides previous runs to know that he is a grinder. He is worth an each-way gamble.
