(1) Cat D’Oro is the best horse in this race based on form and I couldn’t have anything else on top. The well-bred son of Catkins hasn’t raced on anything better than a soft 7 and finally gets his chance on top of the ground here. He didn’t show a lot first-up behind the promising Rustic Steel and Kiku but the form from that race has stood up well with Kiku winning next start as well as Onchao and Noble Privilege also winning. He tackles 1300m for the first time which I think is a good move and despite a wide draw, I expect him to be hard to beat.
(5) Tamerlane is another who will finally get a race start on top of the ground. Trials were okay but I want to see him on race day.
(6) Tycoonist was good behind Colonel first-up, expect nice improvement.
(3) Resilient Star next best.

Going a bit wider in this race and picking (6) Red Stiletto on top at juicy odds. Two back in a Class 1 over the mile, she took rival (5) Harmony Rose on through to the line despite being no match against her. Our girl gets a massive 4kg swing on Harmony Rose and will map to sit right behind her throughout this race. Last start, they rolled the dice with her in the NJC Spring Stakes at Newcastle where she finished a credible sixth and less than a length from the promising Ellsburg. I think the price is overs in a small eight race field, especially being back to a benchmark 68 from a Group 3.
(5) Harmony Rose proved she is all class and will look the winner again at some point in this race.
(4) Shaddy is another who comes from that Group 3 at Newcastle and will find this much easier.
(2) Easifar next best.

Another race here of the favourite is the best horse in the race and looks hard to beat. (1) Miyake has been running around in better quality races and looks primed here to secure a victory. He had a tactics change to settle further back last start due to the draw and they did exactly that before finishing three lengths in fifth. The start prior, he was competitive behind nice horses over the 2000m where he finished 1.5 lengths in sixth. That form reads well here as he gets back on top of the ground and tackles the 2400m from a much better barrier. He should be too good for his rivals here.
(4) Shadow Girl looks to be progressing well this preparation and gives the indication that 2400m shouldn’t be an issue.
(2) Perfect Illusion provides a different form line and looks well into this race with the 2kg claim. Handles the distance no worries.
(5) The Getaway next best.

(5) Ballistic Lover is one I want to give another chance after her last start failure. She finished 7.9 lengths back in sixth in the Brian Crowley behind The Bopper and amongst others with the stewards report reading she didn’t handle the rain affected going. She drops back in grade and back to 1000m which I believe is a great move because she is a tough filly, and she is going to need to be from the wide barrier. Think she is a nice price fourth-up and I expect her to bounce back.
(8) Stoical is coming off an impressive maiden win and will look to continue the nice form into this one.
(2) Mr Moppett has been freshened after a decent run up the straight in the Schweppervescence Plate. Will be thereabouts in the finish.
(9) Britain next best.

(2) Invasion Day returned nicely at Hawkesbury first-up, coming from the second half of the field with 60kg to salute in the shadows of the post. Both Sea Echo and Fastconi have performed well next start out of that race which gives us nice confidence for this one. I expect Nash Rawiller to sit around sixth in the run from the nice barrier and be coming late in the piece. At $9.60 whilst writing this, he is well worth the each-way play.
(5) Rathvilly Miss is a clear second pick for me, coming back to 1400m from a decent draw. She has run against some nice horses this preparation and should be in the finish. Going to speck her as well.
(3) Olympic Legend is coming off a nice win at Kensington, should go well again.
(8) Musume next best.

Going for a bit of a roughie here in (10) El Cohete has been pretty consistent throughout his career apart from one hiccup at the end of last preparation. He started this preparation well, when he travelled to Hawkesbury when he finished 0.7 lengths in third behind Belle of Clonmel and Sahra. I think he is definitely pretty good as those three beat the rest of the field by over 3 lengths. He has once again drawn well and although he is up in grade, he drops 4kg from that run, takes on his own sex and is paying double figure odds. I feel our pick is well over the odds.
(1) Ulysses is one of the better horses in this race but has to carry 59kg from the wide barrier. If he can overcome both these obstacles, he can be in this finish.
(8) Major Time gets in well with a 2kg claim and is well found by the market.
(3) Star of Harada next best.

I have (3) Never Talk on top as she is yet to hit the ceiling in terms of talent. I was impressed by her run last start in town on Cup Day where she handled the soft going to take down Above and Beyond and Belluci Babe. I personally think she is much better on top of the ground which she gets here and although she stays in the same grade, she only carries 1.5kg more than last start with the claim of Louise Day. Her draw is a touch awkward, but if Louise can get her into a nice spot around 6th-8th off the fence throughout the run, she will be hard to hold out.
(4) Sally’s Day returns after an okay preparation earlier in the year, and showed at the end of last preparation, that weight won’t worry her. Expect her to be flying late.
(12) Sahra back to her own sex will be competitive.
(13) Faraway Jewel next best.
