The Horse has found a few races at Yarra that could help build the bank—Race 1, Race 4 and Race 5.

The favourite (9) Pacific Rim comes into this competitive maiden but gets very chance to get the win. He was only beaten by the slightest margin at Werribee last start, placing second behind Benefactress. She went on to win another race franking the form. The booking of Laura Lafferty is a positive, as she has been riding in great form. She will be coming across the field and competing for the lead, and should land it a pretty handy spot.

The other form runners (8) Grade Zero & (5) Rokara will be in the mix.

Like the look of (11) Jenni Express here despite the short odds. She was strong first-up doing plenty of work but still managed to hang onto second place. She will be fitter, gets a pretty good draw, and Noel Callow sticks.

The threat is going to be (10) Defiant Diva who won a jump-out—that form looks to have some quality.

(10) Mosscon was beaten by our top selection Quesadilla first-up in this grade and distance. Game in defeat despite the significant margin. That race has proven to be a good form-line, and she is going to prove competitive today. Beau Mertens keeps the ride and should drop in behind the leaders in after a somewhat sticky draw.

(6) Patented has potential to be in contention; while (7) True Mettle has won a recent jump out.

The Horse

The Horse found the thought of placing bets and drinking beers much more appealing once he was married, and that led to an interest in the many intricacies of The Great Game. He enjoys the challenge of predicting what will happen in any given race, but also loves horses themselves, none more so than the mighty mudlark Jungle Edge. His focus lies on metropolitan racing in Victoria and NSW, however isn’t afraid to find one out wide. Away from racing, The Horse is an avid drummer – quite a difficult task with a set of hooves.
