New South Wales racing heads to Port Macquarie on Thursday afternoon for eight races and Joshua Reed is keen on two horses early in the card.

New South Wales racing heads to Port Macquarie on Thursday afternoon for eight races and there’s two horses that appeal as good betting opportunities early in the card.

Race 1 and Race 3 are the two races we’ll be targeting. The track is a Good 4 with the rail in the true position.

I just love the setup for this Rebel Raider mare as she resumes under a new stable. (2) Let’s Rebelle is returning after almost a year off the scene. She has had one quiet trial in the lead-up to this which didn’t give away a lot, but apprentice Dylan Gibbons rode her in the trial and gets the tick of approval for race day as well. Stats wise, she goes well first-up, is yet to miss running top 2 in all 6 occasions running at Port Macquarie, loves a good track and handles the 1200m no worries. The question mark is around how forward she is, though she gets in nicely with Gibbons 3kg claim and she is the class of the field. I am willing to take the punt on her at nice odds, because at her best, she just wins.

There is plenty to like about (1) Aristograts coming into this contest. Firstly, his SP profile this preparation has showed that he has been well back in all three runs despite not saluting but to me was not near his pet distance. His best run came last start where he hit the line well carrying 60.5kg in a benchmark 66 behind He’s Our Toy Boy. He now gets to race at his pet distance with three runs under his belt and on a good track. Reece Jones retains the ride which gives him a 1.5kg claim down to 61kg and the way he hit the line with a big weight last start, gives me the indication it won’t be an issue here. His best form is better than these and is at a nice price to find out.
