Two features on the card at Ascot today with the Group 3 Asian Beau Stakes and Group 3 Prince Of Wales’ Stakes headlining the 11-race card.

After racing was called off due to the state of the track on Wednesday, the program has two extra races added to it as a result, but the track has improved to a Good 4 with the rail in the true position.

(9) God Has Chosen was a good thing beat on stable debut for Lindsey Smith at Northam last start. He won two of his first three starts in Albany before transferring to the new stable, and he should have made it a winning start this prep with any luck at all. He settled back in the field and ran into awful trouble in the concluding stages of the straight. Pike goes straight on today to replace Brad Rawiller and I think with even luck he just wins.

Incredibly good race here with an incredible amount of speed on paper! For that reason I’ll be trying to get the favourite (7) Wilchino beat, as she’s sure to have no shortage of company up in the lead.

I was hugely impressed with the stable debut of (9) Triple Missile for Lindsey Smith, powering home over the top to win very softly. He’s destined for bigger and better races, potentially over East, and I think he will relish the hot speed up top.

The other one to relish the hot speed will be (4) Graceful Girl. Some query with her being 1200m back to 1000m, and she’s very likely to be buried back in the field, but she has a big finish on her.

The Prince Of Wales’ Stakes looks another good race for (2) Elite Street, who was back to his best in the Crawford Stakes first up. There were whispers that his work had been very strong leading into the race, and he backed that up by coming from back in the field to run down his rivals. I struggle to see any of them turning the tables on him today so if he turns up in similar form, he’ll win again.

The other feature on the day is the Asian Beau Stakes.

There is some query over the favourite (9) Western Empire here after he was scratched from the Northerly Stakes. Word around town was that he had hurt a leg after an incident involving a fence. He’s the best horse in the race at 100% but is he 100%?

(5) Kissonallforcheeks was very good last start, beating Kaptain Kaos who then went on to win the Northam Cup very impressively. She’s a very good mare and if there are any chinks in the armour of the favourite, she’ll be the one to beat.

(8) Notorious One might find it hard with his racing pattern but he’s a very good horse and at $7.00 he’s a bet.

A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne.
