2YO race to kick things off here and we have a short-priced favourite in the form of (9) Pat’s Got Sass, who makes her debut here on the back of a couple of smart trials. Her first trial was over 400m, where she wasn’t quick away but picked up nicely through the line. Then she trialled over 950m, where she ran down the smart Policiere, and they pulled 7L clear of the rest of the field. She’s a big, gangley thing, but she’s clearly got a motor.
(2) Warpipes has been gelded since his debut run behind Pixie Chic, who then got beat a nose in the Supremacy Stakes on the weekend. He gets the blinkers on first time, as well as C Parnham, so there really should be sharp improvement in him.
(4) Defending has trialled once and went well. Tricky draw here from 9.
David Harrison has two other runners outside the favourite, those being (8) Come To Me and (11) Shezaclassychix who can both be included.

(5) Famous Journey should find this race much easier than the two he contested last preparation. Those races were against the likes of Kissonallforcheeks, Smashing, Alpha And Omega and Nobel Laurence. He’s trialled well this time in, winning both, and should come across to sit right up on speed from barrier 12. Will be in it for a long way.
(8) Wunderkind was good first up behind Cable Boy, but struggled last start at Bunbury. Back to his home track with Chris Parnham going aboard should see him bounce back.
(6) It’s Tiff’s will be right around the mark but has had her fair share of chances.

(4) Miss Conteki looks the obvious horse to be with here but you can leave me out of $1.50. She’s won three from four and resumes from a 43-week break today with one trial under the belt. Chris Parnham is booked and she is the one to beat, but there are one or two others to consider in the race.
I said after last start that (5) Lording will be very hard to beat whenever he draws a gate. Today he draws barrier 4, but he might just have bumped into a smart one here. He’s been huge this prep though. First up he was wide without cover throughout, second up he was under the stick at the 600m before flying home to be beaten a lip, and last start he sat three-wide the trip again. He can be very hard to beat here.
(1) Stable Secret won a similar race to this two starts ago. He’s very hit and miss but he’ll be let run today and he can be hard to run down when he’s at his best. At $21 he’s not the worst.

I’m a real big fan of this horse (3) Nobel Laurence, and I think he’ll be extremely hard to beat here. He was sound first up behind Hot Zed, who has since come out and won again to make it four wins in a row. That was a decent little race he resumed in and now he gets up to 1400m second up, which should suit him much better. With even luck, he looks the horse to beat.
(2) Mystery Man hasn’t done much wrong in his five starts. He had his chance last start and gets a tricky map today, and I think over 1400m he’s going to find one stronger.
(5) Speedbird makes her debut for a new stable today and we can probably expect improvement with that. She beat Castillo Del Lago last prep which is good enough form to be competitive in this.

(1) Queen Takes King dropped back in distance last start and was plain. Straight up to 2400m today should suit him much better. Brad Rawiller returns to riding after a fall, and this is his only ride of the day. I think he’ll take some beating.
(5) Bonjouir Noir stepped up to 2000m for the first time last start and bolted in. On that performance, you’d think the 2400m would pose no problem. He steps up from a maiden to a class 3, which is a steep rise in grade, but he might be able to give a sight.
(2) Axel ‘R’ Eight next best.

I think (10) Merivale Magic is a big price here. She was good in her first three runs back from a spell before being caught four-wide the trip last start. Forget she went around there and go off what she did prior to that. She draws much better in barrier 6 today and can b competitive at big odds.
(5) Fiery Bay has been racing well, placing in every start bar one this campaign, when he sat three-wide the trip. He was held up until the 200m mark last start and then hit the line well when he got out. With more luck today, he should be finishing strongly.
(6) General Grant draws barrier 1 but I think he’s under the odds. He beat Antique Jewel on debut, which I don’t think is much good, and last start he had his chance in the same race as Fiery Bay.
(9) Temptacion gets blinkers on for the first time for Morton and Parnham, but was well beaten at York last start. Needs to improve.

(5) Dipara looks a decent each way bet here in the last. She went back to last in her latest run and only picked off the tired horses, but her form before that was good behind the likes of London Miss. She’s undefeated from two starts at this track and distance and draws well in barrier 3, so expecting her to bounce back today.
(1) Trevello was very heavily backed first up but didn’t do much. Gets the winkers on for the first time today. Respecting that SP first up and with the run under his belt he may be hard to beat.
(8) Calag has been good in two starts this prep. Draws well again and can be competitive, but does have just one win from 17 starts.
