Happy to take on the bookies pal in (11) Lady Of Luxury here and back the Waterhouse trained (4) Kristalove. Loved the way she stuck on over the mile first up last start and now steps up to the 2000m. Looks to get an easier lead today and will take some running down with race fitness on her side today. That was her first run for almost a year and I think there will be a massive improvement here today. Will get all the favours up on speed and has the best front running jockey on her back in Tim Clark. The favourite jumps from 1300 to 2000 here and is yet to win a race. Happy to be against and hoping Kristalove will be the one.

Keen to be with the locally trained (7) Mossman Gorge in this 1000m dash. Comes into this off the back of a win at Randwick where he was well backed on the day and kept finding right to the line. Looks to be racing in good form and drops 7kg from his last start win. Won’t know himself with the weight today and draws perfectly in barrier 5. Gets the services of Tom Marquand and will be able to sit just off a hot speed and be finishing strongest late. Takes on a quality field but am happy to play at around the $4 mark.

Really like the chances of (3) Handle the Truth in the National Sprint today. The Dryden trainer runner is always competitive in this top line provincial meetings and today looks to be no different. Ran extremely well in arguably a stronger race last start behind Emanate where he drew a wide barrier and kept coming to hit the line strongly. Absolutely flies 2nd up with 3 wins and a second while he enjoys racing at this track. Think the $5+ on offer is a great bet and I am more than happy to back this horse over some of his rivals at the top of the market.

The two year olds do battle in the Black Opal and our feature of the day.

I think the best bet of the meeting lines up in this race in (1) Rocket Tiger who looks extremely hard to hold out. This gelding clearly has talent and arguably should have won the Silver Slipper last start where he found trouble and flashed home to just miss behind Home Affairs. That horse has since run extremely well in the Todman Stakes yesterday and any sort of repeat of that performance will see Rocket Tiger go close today.

From Barrier 1 they can ride this horse more positively and if he can find gaps at the right time, they won’t be beating him. Trainer Scott Spackmam has said this is the best horse has had in his stable and the early signs show that. The step up to 1200m looks ideal and the $3 looks an absolute steal. Very keen!
