Tough race to start the night at Canterbury but I have landed with (7) Mezenn here. She looks a tough filly after watching her last two runs over the mile. She fights hard and she had a trial in between those 1600m runs, which is going to make her rock-hard fit for her first assignment at the 1900m. With Avdulla back on and the inside draw, she will lead for fun here and based on past track bias, she is going to be very hard to catch with any cheap sectionals.
(5) The Fringe is the danger and will need to sit closer to the leader for her to have an effect on this track.
(3) Tamarin Falls will be forward which will give him every chance.
(6) Le May next best.

(3) Captivare will be fitter for his first-up run and looks primed to turn the last start second into a first. Despite being first past the post, the I Am Invincible gelding was protested against for shifting in at the 100m mark and got demoted to second place. Chris Waller has decided to remove the blinkers and drop him back 50m for his second-up assignment. James McDonald jumps aboard and will put the gelding prominent from the draw and either lead or be just off the lead. I think he will be a major player late in this race.
(1) Overlord is by far the best horse in this race, but I do not like him starting his campaign at Canterbury with 60kg. Won’t surprise me if he wins coming back from his gelding.
(4) Never Never River has also been gelded and will either fight for the lead or share it. Gerald Ryan generally has his horses forward first-up.
(5) Wild Wind next best.

I think this is a race where we can back two horses and come away with a winner. On top I will put (5) AeeCee Power who debuted around this time last year and was no match for the winner Aim. She has since had two trials in the lead up to this which were both nice and she should be ready for her first-up test. She will be forward from the barrier with James McDonald aboard and either sit behind or outside the leader.
(1) Heart of Siena is the other I want to bet each way. He run first-up was good and I expect her to come on from it. First-up last preparation she was second behind Silhouette whilst beating home some decent gallopers. She could hold out (8) Tight Ropes for the lead and the rail, and if she can do that without exerting too much energy, she will be a nice each-way bet.
(4) Shivani is a horse I will want to follow on a bigger track. I think the well-bred daughter of Sebring will be coming late but I think Canterbury will find her out.
(7) Super One Susie next best.

(5) Tochi looks tremendous value here on her return to Canterbury. I am not overly worried about her first-up run as she didn’t run her usual pattern and her first-up record has always been poor. Her second-up record however is decent and her stats her at Canterbury are three wins and a second off five starts. Tommy Berry has ridden her on all those Canterbury starts and again is back on. Although history shows she prefers a touch softer track, she isn’t hopeless on top of the ground. Berry will go forward from the wide draw and will give us a big sight for our money. Each way all day.
(3) Come Along performed well at Rosehill last start chasing down the leader and the form has stood up okay. Needs to get luck throughout but can be a thorn.
(2) Night of Power is a good horse but must contend with a poor draw for its pattern. Will need luck but is a huge danger if he gets it.
(6) On The White Turf next best.

(8) Liberty Sun has been nothing but consistent this preparation without winning and tonight could be the night. The gelding drops back in grade after his last start second behind Charretera. He was all but home before being run over late. Josh Parr will take the ride here and is drawn ideally to again be forward in the run. He is another who loves Canterbury with one win and three placings off five starts. He is nice each-way odds to have a solid crack at.
(4) Café Royal was poor first-up despite being wide without cover. She will need to improve to be a contender here, but the map and draw brings her right into this.
(3) Smart Image is the best horse here, but he will be looking for a bigger track. Expect him to be flying late.

This is a race in two and I think (2) Malkovich should be the clear favourite. Coming back from a short let-up, the Choisir colt has been very consistent this preparation winning twice and placing twice over the four starts. He will go forward from the middle draw and lead the field up and with regular rider Rachel King aboard, she should be able to get him into his usual rhythm. This is the bet of the night.
(1) Super Contender can be forgiven from last start but I query the step back in distance considering how well he performed last preparation over further. He will be right behind (2) Malkovich if he starts to get jelly legs.
(8) Return with Honour ran third on debut for his new stable and that earnt him a gelding. Will need some luck from the draw.
(11) Triple Ace next best.

(3) Kutayha has had a brilliant preparation and I expect it to continue here. Two back at this track and distance he got too far off Gone Bye to finish second by about three lengths before reversing the run and sitting closer in the run over this track and distance to salute the winner by 0.4 lengths. He is drawn ideally here to sit even closer should James McDonald want to put her there. She can get a gun run just off the leaders backs and show how good she is in the straight.
(8) Sagacious will head forward and is coming off a nice win against some good gallopers. 1900m is the query but he is in form.
(13) He’s A Given has drawn poorly but meets (3) Kutayha 2.5kg better off for his 1.8 length defeat. Tommy Berry will give him a chance.

Tough race to finish the night on with plenty of speed but I think we can have a decent each way bet on (7) Salina Dreaming. She has drawn a touch wide but with speed inside and out, she should be able to settle midfield and save the energy for a late crack at them. She is coming off two nice trials and in her latest she was pushed out late behind Café Royal. Hugh Bowman takes the ride and he even went to Newcastle to ride her in the trial which gives me more confidence. There are a few unknowns with where she will get to and of course if she will handle Canterbury, but at the price is worth an each-way dabble.
(11) La Foret is looking for back-to-back wins. Drawn wide so will do some work to lead. Should be thereabouts.
(9) Selburose is another who will head forward and with the 2kg claim of Stockdale will definitely be there in the finish.
(12) Raison D’etre next best.
