The son of Fastnet Rock was pretty impressive on resumption from a break and I think he will be looking to go one better here. (1) Baileys led the entire way at Tuncurry before being run over late by Dashing ‘N’ Daring but he comfortably beat the rest of the field by 1.8 lengths. Leading the rest of the field was his rival and favourite for this race (5) Misterzee, who was already two runs in before their last start meeting. Our bloke is 0.5kg worse off but with the improvement to come second-up, I expect him to be a lot harder to run down. I love they are dropping back almost 100m and keeping Cejay Graham aboard, and if the rain does hit, the track conditions won’t worry him. He will take catching.

The well-bred daughter of Group 1 winning Scarlett Lady will be looking for her maiden win here as she tackles 1415m third-up. (13) Tickle Me Scarlett was impressive in the closing stages of her last start placing at Mudgee, where she was no match for Blue Velvet but still good enough to put in a 3.3 length gap to third placing, who was the favourite Kellers Shelter. I am not a fan of her dropping back as I think she will be better over further, but Kris Lees knows how to place them, and he will be looking for that easy kill before potentially sending her over further in better races. She is drawn ideally in barrier 1 and gets Andrew Gibbons aboard, so expect her to be predominant behind the leaders. There doesn’t look like there is a lot of speed on paper but if the speed does go on, it will suit her down to the ground. As for the weather, well being out of Snitzel and Scarlett Lady, the ground shouldn’t pose an issue if it gets worse as the day goes on.

Going for a Kris Lees race-to-race double here with (1) Ciao Uno who I think gets in quite well with the 2kg claim of Dylan Gibbons. Despite only carrying 58.5kg before the claim, the daughter of Super One was already well placed and she had her chances boosted with a favourable draw. She was already a horse who went forward, but with the booking of Dylan Gibbons, I expect her to lead comfortably or at least sit just off the leader, especially since they have dropped back 200m. She should be too good for them here and I will be very surprised if she doesn’t leave Coffs Harbour with win number two.
