This girl has been racing consistently over her past three runs without winning and I will be hoping that it will change here. (4) Fox Spirit looked all but the winner three runs back at Muswellbrook before being run over late by She’s Independent. She then travelled to Armidale where she sat just off the leaders but couldn’t bridge the gap late in the piece. Last start she did some early work from the wide barrier and got run over late with a decent weight. She drops 1.5kg from that run and is drawn to sit predominantly throughout to give herself every chance. Billy Cray will need to get her into a good position around the bend and kicking in the short straight to give her every chance.

This is a wide-open edition of the Gilgandra Cup and I have gone with a decent each-way chance. (10) Onemorechoice won over this trip three back at Tamworth before heading to town for a Highway race where he didn’t have a lot of luck. He had a freshen up before tacking 1400m at Armidale where he carried the top weight and went down by just over a length in third. Reece Jones started to get into the gelding early as is recommended at Armidale and he hit the line well. Back up to a mile suits where his one blemish was in that Highway race and he is drawn to get an ideal run throughout. He is much better than the price on offer and he is definitely worth the each way bet.

Since changing stables in May, (1) Primal Scream has been undefeated, and I think he can continue that here. He made light work of his opposition in his maiden win first-up in May and was simply dominant in his second-up win at Dubbo before being sent out for a break. He has had one trial in where he was hard held, going with a horse by the name of Special Reward. With a lot of speed to his inside, Anthony Cavallo will have to navigate the gelding from a tough barrier and if he can get him into a nice position, I think he can continue on his winning ways despite having to carry a big weight.
