This looks a very thin race here and I have settled with (3) Sonic Tycoon here on the back of a nice win. The Written Tycoon gelding began well at Hawkesbury and sat outside the leader for the entirety of the race. In the straight he kicked away nicely and despite racing greenly when placed under pressure, he managed to still salute by 3 lengths over the 1500m. He will come on nicely from that race and the fact that was over 1500m gives me great confidence over the mile, especially with the way he went through the line at Hawkesbury. The barrier does give me a slight concern, but I think James Innes Jr will take control and push to the front. Providing he gets that early luck; he will be hard to stop.

I was quite disappointed with this blokes run at Newcastle last start, but I am willing to give him another chance. (8) Stoltz was in a prime position in the straight at Newcastle before copping a bump from the wayward Great Danger around the 150m mark before being over-run by a couple of nice ones in Stormy Rock and Satin Ruby. Stormy Rock has since come out and run well in town behind Blondeau, which should be nice form for this providing our bloke steps up to the plate. The start before he made light work of his opposition which included Yangarra Rose at Wyong and I will be hoping for a similar result here. Tommy Berry is back on which is a massive tick, and he should be able to sit in a prime position behind the leaders from barrier two. He has the fitness under his belt and looks the one to salute here.

If the race before stands up well for us, it will give me a lot more confidence going into this one. (10) Satin Ruby ran second to Stormy Rock at Newcastle last start after having to get to the back of the field with the winner from their poor barriers. They both come with a massive run and our girl ended up 0.3 length off in second. I love the step back to fillies and mares’ grade and back 100m to 1200m. She is drawn a lot better than last time and I expect her to sit in a nice midfield position off the rail. I think she is much better on a dryer track which she gets here and even if the speed goes on, it’s just going to bring her in further.
