Settled here with a debutant in (2) Costa Del Mar who has shown some ability in the trials. Going through all three of her trials, you can see the massive improvement from Trial 1 to Trial 3, even Trial 2 to Trial 3 and she looks a completely different filly.

The expectation is that she will be forward in the running which is ideal on a wet Gosford track and can show enough acceleration in these conditions. That is the only query, but she looks like she is ready for the races. She is one to follow going forward.

I am sure I wasn’t alone being impressed by the first-up return of (1) Traminer at Gosford three weeks ago. The six-year-old gelding returned off a 521-day spell from Hong Kong to run well behind Fritz’s Factor whilst beating home the rest of the field by a minimum of 1.3L.

He is going to strip much fitter for that run and is drawn to put himself in a competitive position throughout. The track conditions are a slight query though in his debut run at Bendigo on a soft 5, he put the field away with ease which gives the indication he won’t mind the sting.

That field he put away contains from decent BM70 horses, though it was over two years ago. I expect him to be competitive if he gets through the ground.

With two of the more fancied runners likely to be scratched due to running at Kensington, we are going to lose a little bit of the price on off for (9) Absolutely Foxy, but she should still be a nice price afterwards.

The Foxwedge filly was only fair first-up at Hawkesbury, finishing fifth behind Belluci Babe which was a tough race to resume in. With that race under her belt, I think she could surprise a few here as she races better with sting out of the ground, which she will get here.

Last preparation she won and placed on tracks with a soft 7 track rating and she looked more suited to those conditions. She is second-up with previous experience at this track, Kathy O’Hara booked, and an ideal draw are all positives for her here. Expect her to be prominent throughout and give us a sight at a good price.
