Gosford Racing Tips: Tuesday, December 29th

There is a lot of different form lines coming to Gosford for this race and it isn’t often that we see Brett Cavanough bring one to Gosford from Scone. (12) Street Power was massive on debut, sitting inside the leader for the majority of the race. In the straight, he fought back to take the lead before his rival on his outside took over in the shadows of the post. They comfortably beat the rest of the field by 2.5 lengths and I think this bloke will take plenty of benefit from that run. The looks to be a little bit of speed around him though he is favourably drawn and James McDonald should be able to get him into a nice prominent position. The main query will be the wet track, though a lot of his opposition will have the same issue.

This bloke is back from a short let-up but should carry some residual fitness into this contest. (11) Amicus Curiae has been impressive to date with two solid wins at Scone and Bathurst. In his debut run, he trounced his opposition by 1.5 lengths before heading to Bathurst and just holding out Fifteen Rounds by 0.1 length. He is drawn nicely to be able to sit in a forward position and I expect them to be just off the leader or leaders throughout before making his move. Mack Griffith trained his mother who ran admirably on wet tracks, so the breeding suggests she should go okay, especially if she is in a favourable position. She is nice each way odds to have a bet.

This is a wide-open Gosford Guineas and this girl ticks enough boxes for me to have a slice of the pie. (10) Redoute’s Image returned in nice style first-up running a solid third behind Salina Dreaming and rival (4) The Face over the Rosehill 1100m. She had no luck in the straight, being held up from around the 400m mark until the 150m mark before accelerating well and making ground on the leading duo. Although this is much tougher, she has proven form in strong company, and she has showed that the wet surface isn’t a worry. With a run under her belt and a favourable draw, I expect her to run a nice race at a nice price.

The Statue of Liberty gelding is in consistent form without winning and I expect him to go close to notching up a win this preparation. Two back he was run over late at Canterbury by Charretera before having the same fate happen once again but to the talented Smart Image and Catapult. Although he hasn’t run on a heavy track, his soft track form is okay, running well without being a factor. He will have a nice fitness edge on some of his opposition and with a nice draw, Josh Parr should be able to put him into a forward position without doing a lot of work. He may be able to pinch it with a nice run.
