Monday’s Goulburn Cup meeting has been rescheduled to take place on Thursday and Joshua Reed has three selections on the card.

Monday’s meeting at Goulburn has been rescheduled for Wednesday and Joshua Reed’s three selections are set to go around in Race 4, Race 5 and Race 7.

The feature of the day is the Goulburn Cup.

The track is rated a heavy 8 and the rail is in the true position.

I was with this bloke on the Hawkesbury meeting that was abandoned, and he has been lucky enough to not only get into another class 1 over 1400m but to draw a nice gate whilst he was at it. (4) Astero is heading into this for his fourth run this preparation on the back of a particularly good two length win over Wandonna to break his maiden. He is going to have no issues handling the ground and from the draw, should be able to sit a bit closer in the run. He has come up a nice price and we may get a nice each-way price come race time which will be very enticing.

I have to admit, this one is a touch of a risk with the unknown over the wet track, though Headwater progeny has been quite fair over the wet so I am banking that she is just a better class of animal and the step up to 1600m is in her favour. (8) Arctic Thunder was impressive at Bathurst when she put the field away in similar class over the 1400m. She did have one go at the soft going for a second behind Canyonero which gives me great hope that with her fitness edge she can run a bold race. I think the current price is a good bet to find out and Kathy O’Hara retaining the ride gives me great confidence with her 17%-win strike rate here.

I know this is a consolation to what they wanted but they almost did the Kosciuszko/Goulburn Cup double last year only to be beaten by Quackerjack narrowly. (2) Handle The Truth was awesome in the Kosciuszko from the wide barrier, finishing fourth with 59kg. Nash Rawiller is coming to Goulburn for this one ride, so you know he is here to win and give his mount every chance. The draw is nice, he is nice and fit and loves the heavy going so I am expecting a massive run and a win here.
