It is looking like a Good track to Kembla Grange and we kick things off in the third race.

A short priced favourite goes around here (2) Mission Legend which looks like one of the surest bets of the day. The Mark Newnham trained gelding ran second to Either Oar at Newcastle over 900 metres and was closing in on the winner. Gets some extra galloping room today and should benefit. I feel he would have won that race if it was over 1000 metres. His trials prior to that race were tidy also—so there is some consistency in his performances if you take the trials into account. Tyler Schiller claims three kegs which will slightly help considering the main danger (1) Gave Me You will be lugging the full 59kg. It’s not an overly generous start but one that can hopefully build the bank.

The Chris Waller trained (2) Nyami goes on top, despite my normal reservations in backing Waller runners for back-to-back wins. Nyami is the only Waller runner in the race so there will be a clear intention to win. We took him at short odds last time he raced (when he won his maiden) over 1350 metres. He won by 1.5 lengths and was pulling away towards the last 200 metres when asked to kick. He was building momentum and was going so well he was essentially slowed down over the line – for me, that’s a sure sign the jump to 1600 metres will be ideal. He will get a good spot from the gate and will show that same turn-of-foot and hopefully surge away. Given he meets a better bunch this time around, but at the current price Nyami is well worth a bet.

The other runners are hard to split with (4) Zarzou every chance after getting the maiden ticked in Canberra at start number nine. (1) Deadly Impact may have a touch more improvement than (3) Tongariro which would explain their price difference.
