Friday racing takes us to Taree where Joshua Reed has spotted a few bets that have tickled his fancy. He is very confident on the favourite in Race 2, while it looks like a two-horse race in Race 5. We’ll finish off with one that looks hard to chase down in Race 6. Check out today’s best bets from Taree below.

This bloke pretty much picks himself, and although (3) Pace Stick is short in the market, on form he should be winning this. Two starts ago the gelding was very bold in a Highway event at Rosehill, only being run over late. It was a great ride by Tim Clark and it didn’t help that the gelding lost a plate in the running also. Last start at Port Macquarie, he ran well with a decent weight and again got run over late. He has drawn well here and gets a 2kg claim which brings him in nicely. He will stroll to the front at Taree which is where you want to be, and is going to be hard to run down in the concluding stages.

This really does look like a two-horse race on paper and I have gone with the outsider of the two in (5) Moonhawk. Last start at Armidale, he went forward with another horse and they fought it out the entire way, with our bloke unfortunately finishing in second. He just looked to tire a touch late which makes this race even more ideal. He gets a 3kg claim of Dylan Gibbons which brings him down to 55.5kg, he is drawn well to either lead or box seat and dropping back 100m is going to suit him, especially at this Taree track.

His main rival (10) Foxy Xenia was a surprise winner at Port Macquarie and steps back 100m with a good draw. She was not overly fancied first-up and would prefer to see her repeat the performance before backing her.

This looked a challenging pace but the form of (3) Asudem looks good and he looks well placed for this one. Last start at Hawkesbury, he ran third to Zell and Military Academy by less than a length and has since been freshened which will be to his liking. If the market was framed around his form last preparation, he would be very short in the market with wins over Costanzia and an unforgettable 5.3L win over Partners (who has won multiple races in Sydney). He is drawn ideally to lead or box seat and is coming into this race third-up, nearing peak fitness. He is going to be awfully hard to run down.

(2) All From Scrap and (4) Classic Gaming pose the main threats, but will give our bloke a head start on the tight Taree track.
