Victorian horse racing heads to Mornington on Tuesday, where we have an eight-race card to look forward to.

Billy Bestford has run his eye over the meeting and highlighted three races he’s keen to invest in – Race 1, Race 5 and Race 7.

The track is rated a Good 4 with the rail out 3m for the entire circuit.

Happy to have something on the Greg Eurell debutant in (3) Dommantella here. Was very impressive in his most recent jump out where he showed a handy turn of foot late on. Looks to enjoy a nice run from barrier 4 with Jye McNeil aboard.

The main danger looks to be (1) Akaka Falls who has race experience to his name with three placings from four starts. Will probably head towards the lead from barrier 1 and be hardest to run down. Pretty certain the winner comes from these top two in the market.

Don’t mind (13) Buffalo Bill to run a cheeky race at a massive price. Has continued to improve with each run this prep and looks ready to peak 3rd up out to 2000m. Winning strike rate is an obvious concern but 2 placings from three 3rd up runs shows he can perform here today at an EW price. Happy to oppose the two at the top of the market.

Think the best bet of the day comes up in this race (5) Sodbuster. Comes into this off the back a huge 8L win in a maiden field at Kilmore. Looks to be progressive and can take the natural step up to this grade today. Pretty confident this filly will be right in the finish here and go on to some stronger races.

I’ll also be having something on the veteran (1) Any Given Bender who looks to have found a new lease on life this prep. Has won 2 of his last three and placed 3rd in a strong bm64 in his other start. Beat Bianconi Magic last start who is no slouch and looks a winnable chance again in a similar race.
