(2) Chain was beaten at $1.55 first up but they did gap 3rd by 7L and he should be fitter for that. His run on debut for the Hawkes camp last prep was good, crossing the line with group 2 placed Glint Of Hope. Forgive his 2nd up run last start when too far back as $2.80 favourite. Should roll forward and be in this for a long way.

Keen to back two runners here. (2) Miss Divine Em looks ready now 3rd up. She was solid in a good race behind Scorched Earth first up before racing wide last start where she kept coming. Now gets the senior rider on, draws well and I think it’ll be an advantage to be on speed from the chute start tonight given the likelihood for strong northerly winds, which is effectively a tailwind the entire. She’s also fine on wet ground if the rain does come.

(9) Secret Isle is the other I’m backing. He was too good on speed on debut, beating Philadelphia Storm who has won a Saturday bm70 since. The trial at Cranbourne was good without raving and he gets D Lane on. Should roll forward and be able to find the best ground.

Keen on (4) Mahrez here. He was well backed on debut off some nice jumpouts and won in okay fashion, coming home in some strong late splits off a moderate tempo. He’s had two 1000m jumpouts and has worked to the line beautifully under a hold, especially in the latest. He’s been given time to mature and he looks like a horse that can go through the grades this prep.

Sticking with (11) Fac here who tried hard with 64kg last start in a strong bm58 at Cranbourne. Up in grade here but drops 5kg and the 1400m will suit 3rd up. He draws beautifully with Lane keeping the ride and whilst he probably wouldn’t want it heavy, a soft track should be fine.

Trent Crebbin

Trent’s interest in the thoroughbred started out as a spark with Black Caviar, became a flame with Winx, and has now intensified into a burning obsession with Arcadia Queen. He started out throwing loose change on random trifectas at the pub, but it wasn’t long before he was watching replays and looking at sectionals, weights and markets. Trent specializes in Victorian racing and hopes his first winner as an owner is just around the corner.
