Not a lot of race form to work off but based off the trials, I was quite impressed with (7) Zarastro in the two trials to date. I didn’t mind the time he run in the second trial when pushed out and he looked like he had more to offer. He has showed nice improvement from trial 1 to trial 2 and from the draw I expect James McDonald to sit within the front four before giving him a chance in the straight.
(8) Jessica Rabbit didn’t look comfortable on the choppy soft 5 on debut. She has since trialled nicely and I expect better improvement back on top of the ground.
(2) Converge will be forward knowing the stable and be prominent throughout.
(6) Wonder Missile next best.

Tough race to assess with the ones that are well in the market returning after a spell. Settled with (3) Dance who is coming back lighter after the gelding. The former Snowden trained galloper was bought from China Horse Club by Bjorn Baker after an okay preparation he finished second twice at Kensington behind Tommy Gold and Armatree before failing on the heavy going. He has since had two trials which looked nice and it should have him in good nick for this race. From the draw, Tim Clark should be able to sit the gelding wherever he pleases and I think he is the right price to have a dabble.
(4) Mount Fuji has been to the trials three times in this preparation so expect him to be forward enough for this. Forgive his only run as he had poor recovery.
(5) Oasis King will probably lead and be in front for a long way. Expect him to come back to them late.
(1) Jimmy’s Dream next best.

(2) Criminal Code should be peaking now fourth-up after a pair of placings at Canterbury. Two back he was held up on the turn before flying home with the winner On The White Turf and then last start was awkwardly placed at heels passing the 400m and became unbalanced before flying late. Staying around the mile is ideal and will probably give the others a start so it will need some luck.
(1) Invasion Day was a good winner last start and gets the inform Christian Reith aboard. 61kg and up to the mile a question mark.
(4) Donandkim come home with (2) Criminal Code last start and meets him 0.5kg better off. Will be thereabouts again.

There is no doubt that (5) Strawb is the best horse in this race with all of us looking to put that last start behind us, despite the fact she shouldn’t have been allowed to run. She has had a trial since and she was very impressive coming from well back to salute in the quickest 920m time of the morning at Newcastle. Being an apprentice race, she has one of the more experienced apprentices in Jean Van Overmiere aboard which will give her a big chance and her draw is okay for her to get into a nice spot. I expect her to avenge her last start performance.
(7) Turnstyle is coming back from Saturday grade for this one. Will probably go forward from the wide gate and give a massive sight.
(3) Ulysses ran well behind El Cohete last start and will appreciate the step up in distance.

(6) Gunaluva is looking for back-to-back wins and I believe he is a big chance to do so. Over his last two races, he has made mid-race moves and without them potentially finishes at the rear of the field. Two back at Wyong after his mid-race move, he struck the lead and got gunned down by Shadow Girl and La Sagra, but to his credit fought back on the winning post. He then did the same thing last start at Gosford over 2600m and streaked away from an average field. He drops 4kg from both those runs and retains Keegan Latham over a touch shorter distance. If he makes a similar move in this race to his last two, he won’t be caught as his acceleration in that mid-race move really makes his opposition over staying distances flat-footed.
(3) Skymax is one I want to forgive from Kembla. Blinkers go on and is over a more suitable distance. Will be there late in the piece.
(1) Chains of Honour missed the kick last start so forget about that run. If he jumps with them, he is a top chance.
(8) Sepulchre next best.

It Is hard to not be impressed with the way (4) Zing finished off her last trial and I think she will be ready to go here first-up. She is dropping in grade from last preparation where she saluted twice and was competitive in tougher grades. She is drawn well and gets back on top of the ground which she hasn’t seen in almost 12 months. She will be fighting out the finish at nice odds.
(9) Macleay is the other one I want to play at nice odds. He trialled nicely and brings in form around Acrophobic. He will go back from the draw and come late, so a nice each way play will suit.
(3) Blondeau will get a 2kg claim and should be prominent from the widish draw. Let’s see if the gelding has helped him.
(15) Onchao next best.

I think (3) Buba is a nice way to finish off the day at Warwick Farm. She has been a model of consistency this preparation with placings in all three runs. Two back she finished less than a length behind Montserrat, who has since performed well in this grade and then she come with a late run at Wyong to finish less than a length in third. She sticks to the mile which is ideal and gets back to a bigger track that last start. The Adelaide mare should be at peak fitness though she will be giving them a start from the poor draw. Well worth an each way play.
(1) My Demetra is the danger and would be clear cut favourite with a favourable draw.
(13) Shamani is stepping up in grade and should be thereabouts.
(10) Fill of Fun next best.
