Originally, I wasn’t overly keen on this race with the amount of Waller runners, but I am willing to have a small play on (8) Selburose after watching her replays last preparation and of course her one trial this time in. Her last start at Kensington, I thought she ran well behind Panna Cotta, who has run third and fourth in stakes company. Also, in that race was Raison De’Etre who ran fifth in a Group 3. Our girl hung out a bit in the middle stages before finishing off well and going for a break. I thought her trial was good, darting to the inside under a strong hold and easily winning the trial. I think she is a touch over the odds and I am willing to play small on her.

TIP: (8) Selburose – $6.00 at Sportsbet

Another race I am not overly keen on, however I thought (2) Castel Sant’Angelo can give this a real shake up at the price. Two starts ago he was tough over the 1800m at Hawkesbury with a big weight and the form has stood up well from the race with Satin Rain, Brown Thomas and Ocean Waltzer winning next start. Unfortunately, our boy did not, missing the start slightly and being squeezed early on, having to settle at the rear of the field which is not his pattern. He grinded his way to the line which he usually does and was not disgraced. Jason Collett gets the ride again and will no doubt attempt to stride forward from the wide gate. If he can get to the front and roll along, he will be hard to beat in a true staying test against these. He is as tough as nails, but if it turns into a sit and sprint, he will be in trouble.

TIP: (2) Castel Sant’Angelo – $10 at Unibet.

I love the lead-up form of (3) Let It Pour here, and I think she is one of the better bets of the day. She finally broke her maiden status two starts ago at Gosford leading all the way for an easy victory. But the form last start looks ideal for this race, where he was 1.2L fourth behind Joviality, Invinciano and Night Witches. She steps back to a sprint distance which suits her better and is drawn to make an impact from midfield. Josh Parr has two rides today and I think this is the main ride, so he will be looking to give every bit of energy to get her home.

(2) Switched is the main rival here and will find this easier than her last couple though I feel she is nearing the end of her preparation.

TIP: (3) Let It Pour – $4.60 at Sportsbet.

If the old saying “Class is permanent” rings true, (4) Chains Of Honour looks a nice each-way bet in a wide open affair. Returning after a nice six month break, the Redoute’s Choice gelding resumes over the mile which shouldn’t pose an issue, as his first ever run was over a mile and first-up last prep he ran over 1800m, both of which he was victorious. He loves the dry tracks and is drawn to sit a lot closer than he did at the end of last preparation. Might be a dabble each-way at the price.

This is a tricky race and with no confidence I have (3) Dorothy Of Oz on top. First-up from a spell, she was incredibly good at Kensington just getting run over late by (5) Alison Of Tuffy to which he meets 1kg better off for the half a length defeat. Our girl will be fitter for the run and once again she will look to take control of the race from the wide alley.

(7) Special Snap has become a bit of a money-muncher, but she heads back up to NSW in search for a dry track which she will get here. This is a wide-open race and I won’t be playing.

TIP: (3) Dorothy Of Oz – $3.50 at Bet365

If he can find his old form, (3) He’s A Hotshot should walk away with victory here, but it does look a tidy little race. He is returning from a let-up after his last start fourth behind Varda in a Saturday grade race in which he ran against his usual pattern coming from off the pace. He gets the luxury of in-form jockey Jason Collett aboard and a decent draw to be able to sit handy throughout. A big tick for the gelding is he finally gets back on top of the ground after three wet track runs. His last start on a Good track, he was 0.3L third behind Maddi Rocks and Agassi which is superb form for this. He has proven himself in the past, we just need him to return to that form.

TIP: (3) He’s A Hotshot – $4.00 at Bet365
