Billy Bestford highlights three races he’s keen to bet in at Wyong on Thursday afternoon.

Wyong hosts one of two race meetings in New South Wales on Thursday afternoon, with eight races set to be run.

The track is currently rated a soft 5 with the rail out 3m.

Billy Bestford has done the form and highlighted three bets on the card he’s keen to have, coming in Race 3, Race 4 and Race 8.

(1) Da Nang Star has looked the goods at the trials and looks well placed here today to breakthrough on debut. Wouldn’t have to be a star to win and should be given every favour from gate 3 with Rachel King to ride.

(3) Miss Checkoni ran above the market expectations on debut and should only improve off that performance. Looks the main threat.

(5) Sarandos resumes today and looks the likely leader with Tim Clark to ride. Likeable combination and will only take benefit from race experience.

(9) Toguchi has had plenty of chance but looks very close to a win here. Is on the quick backup from a narrow 2nd last week over 1200m and should be suited up in trip now. The claim for Dylan Gibbons is also a positive.

(6) Voltera looks the obvious one to beat after a good 2nd up run behind Alighted. They beat the rest of the field comfortably there and looks ready to fire 3rd up.

Keen to see (1) Sonic Tycoon back on top of the ground. Will only improve from that first up run where he didn’t handle the heavy track and looks suited by conditions today. Started well in the market on that occasion. Has been a winner 2nd up in the past and flashed some ability in his debut prep.

(2) Dundee Lee tackled a strong bm72 last start and now looks suited back to this grade. Maps for a nice run and will be right in the finish.

(9) Theo Legion looks the best value chance of the race and looks primed to run well 4th up. Jockey and trainer combo have been flying recently and you can’t leave out of your numbers.

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
