Wyong Racing Tips: Wednesday, November 18th

Landed with (4) Eyewitness in the first here on the back of a nice trial earlier this month. The Star Witness filly was held together well in the trial and I think with the ideal draw she will lead this field up and be hard to run down. Her two trials earlier in the year were good hit-outs for her as she was extended in the first trial on the heavy going and urged along in the second. I expect her to drift in the market.

(1) That’s Better is Josh Parr’s only ride for the day which makes me a bit weary, but this bloke just hasn’t shown me a turn of foot I would want to see over this sprint distance. He has been well held in his last two and is drawn wide here with the 59kg. He will go forward no doubt and maybe the removal of the blinkers might improve him.

(3) Gallant Run will no doubt head forward also but would prefer a softer going.

(6) Reverse next best.

This is a shocking maiden to dissect and have decided to go with (1) Mr Canyounot with no confidence. Forget last start after he began awkwardly and was jammed between two runners before settling last and not being a factor throughout. Not only was this a pretty strong maiden, but I do believe the wheels were spinning on the heavy going. He will be fit as the two trials in the lead up to his first race start were over 1200m and considering the depth of this maiden (which is little), he just has to handle that wide draw and he will be a chance. Huge price to find out, tread carefully.

(2) Dunlee has been ordinary and last start did have excuses. Expect them to go forward and try to dictate this race.

(5) Can Do It has probably the best formlines in this race but going around Wyong worries me. Will need to be prominent in the run to be a factor.

(7) Lincoln Park next best.

Another weak maiden and I will be incredibly surprised if (2) Belieber does not take this race out. Two solid trials this time in and returns a gelding after a lackluster first preparation where he finished closely behind Miss Canada, Bartley, Global Quest and Postcode. He is drawn perfectly in barrier two, will go forward and with Tim Clark aboard (20% win strikes rate at Wyong in the last 12 months), he should give him a peach in front.

(7) Escape Artist gets a good track for the first time and steps back to provincial level. Drawn awkwardly and happy to watch go around. Looking for improvement.

(4) Arlandria will be one to watch in this race on the back of some fair trials. Wyong might no be it’s track but one to watch.

(6) Natanya next best.

I think the stable were waiting for a drying track and a good draw, and they get both here. (1) Cathay is returning to the races after a successful first campaign as a two-year-old. She has had one trial leading in where she wasn’t asked to do a lot and I am sure the stable has kept her up to the mark in preparation for her return. This is a good resumption in a fillies and mares benchmark 64 and from the draw, she will follow (2) Margie Bee and (6) Designer Maid into the race before going past them in the straight. There are bigger things in store for her.

(3) Running Four Bub looks a decent chance here and probably the biggest threat to our pick. The question mark is back to 1200m and whether it’s a “buildup” run in the lead up to something else.

(7) Philadora is one I love that they brought into the provincials and I think can be competitive.

(4) Miss Sure Shot next best.

This is one of the better bets of the day and it is an absolutely silly price. (8) One Pound is a horse that has been racing out in the country and has found a race that she can be competitive in. She gets in the weights nicely with Reece Jones claiming 3kg down to 56kg and will be going forward from that barrier at the mile. The distance won’t be an issue but she would probably prefer a touch softer ground, but she will give us a sight in front on this tight track. $10.00 as I write this is a beautiful price.

(1) Aspect Ratio is the favourite and best horse in this race. She will follow out pick over I believe and will be the one we will be sweating on in the final stages.

(3) Broadside Armour is drawn poorly but will appreciate the step up to the mile, will be coming late.

(6) Mo The Great next best.

Sticking with (4) Hibiscus Lady here after a solid first-up display back in grade. She carries the 57kg here with Dylan Gibbons 3kg claim and he should be able to give her an even better ride then the one he gave her last start, if that’s even possible. She has drawn the inside barrier which works in her favour, has a decent second-up record and will appreciate a drying track. I think she is about the right price.

(3) Longbottom is a proven performer and meets easier opposition here. She is a nice each-way price, but she will need to use her class here.

(11) Emilette is very speedy and will look to make it a match race from barrier 9. I expect her to be in it a long way.

(8) Rifles next best.

(4) Wild Chap is who I want to be with in the last. Drawn ideally out of barrier 5, Louise Day and her 1.5kg claim should be able to stride forward and dictate the race. I don’t mind the drop back from 1400m to 1200m here, as he has shown form over 1200m and his last race was competitive in Saturday grade. I think he is a good way for us to end the day.

(1) Sanctioned has to carry a big weight but is classy. I wouldn’t be leaving him out and I think is a big danger

(9) Thiswilldous is competitive fresh and will be in this race a long way.

(12) Professor Marx next best.
