(7) Flying Witness was good fresh following a couple of nice trials and did enough there to think she would be winning very soon. The stable has thrown the blinkers on for the first time today and she maps perfectly from barrier 5 and rising in trip. Looks very hard to beat.

(3) Sword Point has been going around in some pretty handy maidens and has had a little freshen up. Jmac jumps on and you’d expect him to be right in this.

(13) Black On Beauty was well-backed on debut at Newcastle a couple of weeks ago and saluted in style. She looked the part at the trials leading into that and I think she’s a horse with plenty of upside. Expect her to be hard to beat here and she can go on to win better races than this.

(7) Walkin’talkin’ was beaten by a progressive type first up but that was off a long break and there was plenty to like about the run. Strips fitter now and should be prominent from gate 1.

(9) Kir Royale was a dominant maiden winner and looks another horse who can progress through the grades.

Keen to back two horses here at a price. Thinking (5) Grace Bay can run a race fresh (as she usually does) and goes well over 1200m. By all accounts she is going very well at home and took on a pretty hot race to round out last prep.

(15) El Cohete looks the best value runner on the card tonight. Never really puts best foot forward first up but is a much better horse with a run under the belt. Will enjoy getting back to Canterbury and the slight rise to 1200m is also a positive. On best form he can win and looks a great bet to run into the placings.

Billy Bestford

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
