Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, December 15th

(3) Masterful looks primed to break through at his 3^rd career start. I think he comes out of the best last start race behind Squid Game and Treporti, the latter of which has won his maiden since. The wide draw is a bit sticky but with even luck early he looks the one to beat.

(9) Endlessly is another having his 3^rd race start and does tie in with Masterful, having beaten home Indy Rose Warrior at The Valley, a horse that finished ahead of Masterful at his debut.

(2) Lucky Decision started hard in the market in a good race on debut last prep, failing behind Hunnam. He’s been gelded, given plenty of time and jumped out well.

(6) Peribaldo looks the pick of the debutants coming off two trial wins.

(7) Port Louis drops back to a maiden after contesting much stronger races. He was okay in the Sandown Guineas at group 2 level last start and whilst that wasn’t the strongest group race, he should be taking care of these, but not a betting proposition at $1.24.

(6) Oughton can run a place after a solid showing on debut. He jumps straight to 1400m and draws well.

(7) Love Takes Time was 6 weeks between runs and dropping 100m in distance last start, unable to sprint with them but kept working through the line. Her only win came at 1600m on debut and she finally gets back up in trip.

(8) Defiant Diva ran on well from the back, beating home Love Takes Time last start. She’s on trial at the mile but was good through the line last start. She may have to give away a start again but should be hard to beat.

(1) Gate Crash has a tricky map from barrier 1 given he’s gotten a long way back in both career starts last prep. His maiden win was very strong and he’s trialled well, he’ll just need luck from the inside.

(1) Rock Artist’s best runs have come at 1000m, having won his maiden and also beaten a couple of fast 2yo’s in Direct and Jigsaw at The Valley in a tough win. He’s got 61kg but has jumped out well enough and has the runs on the board.

(9) Viviane finally broke through for a deserved maiden win last start when ridden a touch quieter. She didn’t beat much and the time wasn’t great, so I think she’s short enough here at nearly even money.

(3) Hokolesqua was well backed on debut at Mornington and won in okay fashion after enjoying a nice run and getting into the clear at the 300m. No shock to see him improve and be competitive.

The map horse is (3) Mariamia who was very good sitting outside the leader on Pakenham Cup Day, just no match for the swooper’s late in a stronger race. That leaves me with no issue at 1400m which she stays at now, and drawn barrier 1 she’s going to get every chance on speed.

(8) Spooning took on some decent races last prep, bolting in with her maiden on debut before a solid 3^rd to Cherry Tortoni at listed level. She’s got tactical speed but first up at 1400m, my prediction is they’ll go back from the wide gate.

(1) Arriva Diva is in good form and did well to hold off Night Passage last start. She’s up in the weights but will go forward and be thereabouts.

(2) Pal D’oro resumed gelded with a comprehensive victory, sitting on speed and winning comfortably eased down. He maps for a similar run on speed and can progress again.

(3) Galactus generally gets back in his races but charged to the line first up at Geelong and some of his form last prep, including a 2^nd to Faretti and a 0.2L 3^rd to Good And Proper reads well for this.

(7) Space Force is only lightly raced but was solid in a similar race last start.

(6) Grand Pope ran well for a long 3^rd to Sixbysixtythree first up at Pakenham. He’ll get back but has a big finish on his day.

(10) Night Passage has been up a while but is racing well. She was no match for impressive winner Typhoon Harmony last start but was close to the other placegetters and this is easier. Blinkers on, a nice draw, she should go close.

(2) Irish Playboy will get back but his best form would go close in this. Two preps ago he won first up at 1400m in bm70 grade before a big 2^nd in the Country Final behind Fontein Diamond. He didn’t seem to come up last prep after a gut buster first up and could show up here.

(17) Meltdown doesn’t win often but off his SP profile the price about him looks overs. He drops in distance which I don’t love but has never started over $10 and is as much as $31 here. Something very small on him.

(7) Unanimous is the current favourite and an obvious chance, but generally gets back in the field and I thought she was under the odds.

Very open, and a fairly low race to end. Going to spec something at huge odds in the form of (15) Lady Kermadec who is consistent at least and racing well. She won two in a row before a solid showing on a bottomless track last start. She does have a $2.60 SP and 2^nd placing to So You Assume when racing in Melbourne earlier this year which reads well.

(1) Convict Sam looks the one to beat 3^rd up out to 1800m. He was too good last start over a mile and will appreciate the extra trip and even further.

(12) My Delight drops in trip from 2040m but her run prior over a mile in mare’s grade was good at The Valley.
