(6) Fan Club was solid first up at 1400m, battling away for 3rd. Second up in his first prep he ran 2nd to Hasseltoff, who has gone on to be a strong Saturday performer. He should strip fitter but there isn’t much value at the $1.95 quote.

(9) Sacred Snow failed on debut in a fairly strong race. She’s jumped out well and gets Mcneil on here.

(5) Ha She started $1.75 last start at Werribee and Lane sticks from barrier 3.

(8) She’s Booming makes her debut for team Hawkes and has jumped out well. She was put away after a couple of pleasing Sydney trials late last year and this looks a very winnable maiden.

(4) Don’t Doubt Nic battled to the line first up over 1000m in a strong maiden. Rigel Star has since run 2nd in a decent race at Mornington and Arroance won its maiden as the $1.50 favourite. It was a race of little change and 1100m should suit.

(6) Olindo was last seen finishing 4L off All Of Brighton, which has turned out to be very strong form. He’s had a let up since then and has won a jumpout.

Everything on debut bar one, which makes this near impossible. The one with race experience, (6) Alriyah was good in a fairly strong 2yo race earlier this year behind Arcaded. No knock on that form but there are just too many unknowns here and analysing jump outs of unraced horses isn’t my strength in doing the form.

(8) Glamour And Glory has been well supported for Hawkes & McNeil which could be a lead.

Tip: (6) Alriyah- $3.70 at Sportsbet

(5) It’s Kind Of Magic is a very interesting runner here first up. She’s clearly talented but has clearly had issues over her past few starts last year. Wet tracks were to blame for a couple of those but she looks to have come back nicely, winning three jumpouts in nice fashion. She’ll get a good track and her best would see her very hard to beat. At $6.50 I’ll take the bet she’s back.

(9) Zorro’s Dream flopped as favourite last start but was on a heavy 10 which can be forgiven. The run prior behind South Parade was good and if he’s bounced out of last start he’ll be in the finish.

(2) Modear has a big finish and will be closing hard again but just struggles to win and is a horse that is generally profitable to oppose.

(7) Teramia was good at Mornington in what was probably a stronger race, although the form out of it hasn’t been great.

Typical midweek, off season staying bm64. (11) Poppy Joan has the most upside at her third race start. The heavy track may have helped her cause but the Maher & Eustace stable have a phenomenal record with their stayers.

(4) Prince Romany looked to be a promising stayer on the rise but was beaten a long way in the Alistair Clark at The Valley, before a fairly luckless run in the St Leger Trial. He can bounce back for sure.

(2) The Mockingbird is very consistent and should run well again.

(13) Kanzai is probably the best horse in the race, or at least the one with the most upside. She was below her best and pulled up lame last start over 2100m. She drops back to the mile here and would perhaps be better over further. Not sure what to make of the set up here.

(7) Literati was good breaking his maiden at Hamilton and held his ground in a stronger race at Caulfield behind Captain Spud at Caulfield. This looks easier and he’s a leading chance.

(3) Jenkins is certainly good enough but draws very wide and Stockdale on is some concern, especially given this horse doesn’t have a great strike rate.

Very tough, and average race. Kanzai would win at her best but the drop in trip off a lame run is enough to put me off.

Going to have something on (2) Benefactress who comes here first up and went to the paddock with two wins in a row. She broke her maiden at Werribee and backed it up in a similar grade of race at Caulfield under a great ride to win well at double figures. I like that Lane sticks with her first up and at $21 she can run a big race.

(1) Sensationalisation has the runs on the board and did win first up at Mornington. She’s had a small spell and did run well in some strong city races last prep. If she gets the gaps from barrier one she’ll go very close.

(3) More Secrets won nicely on debut at Pakenham. This is much harder and I thought she had a good run there and would need to improve.

(7) Ethewinki ran 2nd to Snapper two back and got the job done at $1.28 at Kyneton. She’s a definite hope.

(7) Michigan will be hard to beat again in the last. He beat a decent maiden field at Sandown first up and did it comfortably. I’d expect he improves a fair bit off that run and ideally Zahra holds the front from barrier one and proves too strong.

(2) Hillcrest Moses is generally around the mark in this grade and should get a nice run from barrier 4 off the speed.

(10) Magnetic was dominant breaking his maiden two back at Cranbourne and had to do too much work last start. He maps well from 3 and should improve.

Tip: (7) Michigan- $2.00 at TAB

Betting Strategy: 2 units WIN Michigan

Trent’s interest in the thoroughbred started out as a spark with Black Caviar, became a flame with Winx, and has now intensified into a burning obsession with Arcadia Queen. He started out throwing loose change on random trifectas at the pub, but it wasn’t long before he was watching replays and looking at sectionals, weights and markets. Trent specializes in Victorian racing and hopes his first winner as an owner is just around the corner.
